Move and slave the hard disk to a working system and scan the drive for Virus. If no Virus is detected, try and do a repair of the OS with the OS CD/DVD-ROM. If the problem persist, Slave the drive to a working system and reinstall the system.

The most likely reason is that you're not logged in as an Administrator of that machine.

SOURCE: About Show all file option

Well friend, your issue sounds to be a virus issue. Scan your computer for any virus or spyware. Also check to see if you are able to restore your computer to an earlier time. However it could be possible that you might not have any restore points available if your computer is infected by virus. It that senario you would need to remove the virus from your system completely or repair your computer using the system recovery CDs or the recovery drive partition.

Walkthrough

Restart the Computer and keep tapping the F8 key till you see the advance boot options, You should be tapping the key as soon as you see the manufactures screen. Once you get the advance boot options -> Select the option which says Repair your Computer once its Selected click next on the Keyboard Layout Option, Now it would ask you for a User name and Password, Click on the User name Tab and select User/Owner extra and Type in your password if the computer has one if not you can leave that field blank, then click on next, Now on the recovery options screen you would be able to choose System Restore, Command Prompt extra. I think with the issue your facing System Restore would be the best Option to do. Once its selected click Next and choose a Restore Point with the Date when the Updates Happened and initiate it. Once done you should be able to install the game without any issues.

Good Luck!!!!!

Srartup Repair Not working?

Try:Turn the machine off, turn it back on and IMMEDIATELY press two keys: CTRL +F6. If you hear a distress series of beeps (around 5/sec) keep pressing for about 1 min. After that release F6 but keep pressing Ctrl for a while. At this point the MS Windows Boot Console should appear and offer you choices. Choose Boot in Safe Mode With Internet.
Now, that combination Ctrl+F6 is maker specific. It worked for my DELL
towers. Other manufacturers reportedly have other "secret" codes.
You may try Alt, Del, PgUp, PgDn instead of Ctrl. Also F6 is not cast in
concrete. You may try other function keys. Some machine may require only one key to be pressed.Every machine MUST have a code like this. It took me about 10 min to find.1. Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer.
Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the Lock button, and then click Restart.2. Do one of the following:• If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you will need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
• If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8.3. On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press ENTER. (If Repair your computer is not listed as an option, then your computer does not include System Recovery Option as a preinstalled recovery option.)4. Select a keyboard layout, and then click next.5. Select a user name and enter the password, and then click OK.6. On the System Recovery Options menu, click system restore and restore the computer to the date it was working fine.

My kids played with my log on screen ...now my password will not allow me in and I'm locked out. I've tried everything...what do I do??? Please help!

Hello,

Restart your computer, and as soon as you see the logo of the company that made your computer (ie: Dell, Toshiba, IBM, eMachine, etc....) keep pressing the F8 key. Soon a lot of different Options come up, choose the one that says start Windows in Safe Mode.

Once in safe mode, choose Administrator from the login screen, then go Control Panel -> users and then change the person's password.

Hopefully this will help,
MichaelPrest
