The "Windows Live Update" is ON, it just made a download of updates from Microsoft... You need to remove them by going to "Control Panel" select "Add/Remove Programs" find windows updates there and uninstall them... You don't need them. The system restarts.
Next, same go to "Control Panel" on classic view, Click on "System" choose "Automatic Updates" turn that off.
That's it... It won't bother you anymore.

Why not use the Vista disc to format the drive. At the bottom of the Install screen after the License Agreement you should see Drive Options (Advanced) where you can select the partition. You may have to create the partition using the New option, but formatting is automatic with the Vista install. If you are not able to do this something may not be correct with the drive setup - either jumpers or BIOS settings.

First You need to get the chipset driver, video driver to correct resolution and network drivers. Check in hardware manager which device need a driver and install it.
