Sony camcorder 'Movie recording disabled'

You need to finalize it in the camera, the one you used.

Then you should be able to access what little data if any on it.

If you can not get it to finalize then take both the camera and disk to a photo shop. They may be able to recover it for you.

Let us know the results. Good luck

Hello, i have a DVD-R disc, 30 minutes, 1.4 GB, handycam and we recorded some videos, one month later our recorder havent´t charge, we conected it for being charged, after that we would like to see...

I am so so sorry my friend, but like millions of other people you too have found that DVD disks for recording movies simply do not work.
The disks are 98% un-reliable for movie recordings and this is why people like myself a Pro Movie maker for 30 years keep telling the silly sods who make movie camera WE WANT TAPE cameras back, and the only one which ever worked well was 8mm tape.
I surgest you call those fools on the Sony line and tell them that you like us do NOT trust these Sony disk cams on 01256 828828 UK number.
I will be pleased if you let me know how you get on, because these disks simply are rubbish.

Movie recording disabled

for disc (DVD) camcorder: this problem is due to high shock to camcorder. the recorder lens is moved from it's original place and can't record or access thereafter. you also can not finalize the disc (DVD). you have to replace the disc with new one.

you also lost your recording till the problem happened.

My camera is displaying a message that states "movie recording disabled" when I try t record something. I have no idea how it got there so I have no idea how to inable it again. Any suggestions?

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot when Recording disabled is displayed by the camcorder.
  1. Verify the disc being used has not been finalized. It is not possible to record additional video on a finalized disc.
  2. Attempt to record on a different disc.
NOTE: If the error is still displayed after performing these troubleshooting steps, service will be required .

Same problem "movie recording disabled"

Scott,
Since this is a new camera, nothing was changed as far as the disc, it should work, has it been switched to "still" for photos, that's the message that comes up when you change it. You shouldn't have to finalize the disc before you shut off the camera, try starting it with another disc then shut it off replace it with your baptism disc and try to preview the video, if it shows you should be able to aad to it or then finalize it.

DCR-DVD108 Problem

It's the disc not the camera......I purchased a 3 pack of Sony DVD-R discs. I put the first disc in and it recorded once. The next time I tried to record I got the message "movie recording disabled". After calling Sony, searching online, resetting the camera and reading through the manual I replaced the disc with another from the 3 pack and it is recording just fine. I read that recording straight to DVD has many problems, and I believe this is one of them. SONY SUCKS!!!!!
