I purchased my Sony Bravia in August 2006 in January 2009 my tv just suddenly die, not sound no picture anymore. I got so frustrated > I call to 1800 ... Sony let them know that the problem was in the mother board. About three weeks ago I call Sony Customer service and they go, Sorry we can not give to any customer a manual about this. To repair this tv
(taking the risk to get it fix or not,) it will be over $500.00. I'm totally disappointed, about Sony Tv's.

I purchased a TV Sony Bravia KLV-40U 100M, in August 2006. About a month ago my TV just die. One night I go back from my job and I found it not working, not sound. I look for some information about this TV. and it was kind of difficult to find a technician to know G2 board. So, I call Sony Customer service asking for the Service Manual and they will not give or sell to any client. To repair this TV it will cost me over $500.00 taking to risk to get it fix or not.
I'm totally disappointed with about this Sony Bravia.

The U series has two boards and it could be either the system/video board or the power supply board. It will take a tech to tell you which is bad

How to connect antenna to klv 40u100m

Correct. You have to connect the antenna to another box and then take the output of that box to the TV. An old VCR is ideal as this box.

How do you tune

The user's guide and other documentation for the KLV-40U100M are available from Sony here: . This TV doesn't have a tuner. You need to use a set top box to watch any OTA or cable channel.

I wish that I had better news for you. If you need to adjust picture or the resolution, please add a comment with the signal source for your TV. If the source is a PC, make sure to that the TV is on and set to the correct input before turning on the computer.

There is no picture and no sound on my sony bravia KLV-40u100m

Check the U24 (CPU reset IC) on the "A" board. It may be burned. If you have a DVM (voltmeter) check for 3.3V across SW1 connections near this device. If you don't have 3.3V, U24 is bad. This part is not available from Sony. The TV may work if you just remove U24 from the board. I posted this fix on Agoraquest also, you can read more there (I'm "Roundabout" on that forum). Hope that helps

Sony KLV-40U100M Screen replacement

If this were just about any other brand, you'd likely be able to find another brand of TV with the same size screen and swap the inverter boards and the LVDS board. The problem with Sony is that the company uses internal designations. If you have homeowner's or renter's insurance, it might cover some of the cost. Otherwise, put the damaged set on eBay (you'll get a couple hundred dollars plus shipping) and go buy a new set. Likely, any larger set for sale with a good screen is going to go for more on eBay and finding one is rare.

Sony BRAVIA KLV-40U100M Issue

Just bought the KLV-40U400M Sony Bravia Monitor. Did you fix the turn on turn off problem? How much did it cost, labor/parts?

I'm thinking I better get the extended warranty although I wonder if the board will continue to go bad year after year.

I was told the tv could be replaced but w/someone else's refurbished tv. I was very unhappy w/that response.

So how's your tv today?
