When I turned tv back on, the screen is black with green lines, is it broke? Shall I call out tv repair man? Got to tell my partner yet, oh oh!!! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Re: Spilt Water

Do keep in mind dont operate any device under this condation if u have a hair dryer, open the back of the tv and send hot air to the parts where u suspect that water had been spilled and try once one if not working some components may be got damaged The water that went inside wont go by itself it will make the dest particles inside the circuit bord moist and it will become a short circuit and can damage the components like IC so if similar cases occur try to make the water particles dried before u make the device working

Re: Spilt Water

It dosent matter if it's on or off as these sets have what we servicers call a stand by power supply. The sets need a stand by supply to supply a voltage to the remote or microprocessor circuit to operate the remote section of the set. Also these supplys can have other supplys built into them and they are switched or always on . Im thinking that the instant the water hit the chassis you were doomed!! DOOMED I SAY.. LOL just kidding man. Ok best thing to do if your not a technician is dont take the set apart and look for something wrong. There are no serviceable parts in these sets and all your gonna do is see alot of small componets and most of the time you cant see when ones bad and theres alot of voltage in these sets, so i would tell the servicer what you did and depending on how old the set is maybe its still worth fixing. Sorry could not be of more assistance. Good Luck

We accidentally hit something and now the TV is stuck with a #1 in upper right hand corner and "no signal" in the middle of the screen.

Hi Andrew:

I tend to think of my TV and all of the other electronics as if they have personalities, and they want to do things their own way.

It sounds as if the tv is working and thinks that it needs to receive a signal, so the input device is probably not turned on.

If you're using one remote, and it's anything like mine, it can control the tv and the input separately or simultaneously. The button on the top left switches this, and the indicator in the top centre tells me which mode it is in.

There's a possibility that you can restore your intended function by using the top left button.

I own a GE TV Model #31GT657 when i push INPUT on my remote it goes to channel 03 instead of video

Sounds to me like someone has spilt a little something over the remote. Have you tried getting a universal remote. This may help you.

Can not turn tv off with remote control

Check the remote if it is putting out pulsating infrared. Point it to a pc cam and you should see the pusating light it is emmiting if it is good. Pc cam can detect infrared waves. This will at least confirm if the remote is functioning. If everything else is working exept the power button then carefully open the remote control and clean the contact to where the power button is. Sometimes liquid spilt on the remote dries up causing bad contact.

Water spilled inside 25'' Sanyo will not turn on

The water has already done its damage. Try leaving the set unplugged and drying out for a few days then try it again otherwise you will most likely spend more to repair than to replace.

Grandson spilled glass of water on top of tv and it poured inside the tv. We let it set for a couple weeks to dry out. Earlier today it came on picture & sound but when channel was changed it went off....

Was the tv on when water spilled on it? Or on standby? I would guess it does not matter now. I do not like to even try to repair a tv with water the problem can go almost any where. Really and truly your best fix for headaches is to replace your tv. Some may argue this but I know best.

Water damaged TV

If the set was on most likely severe damage by the cold drink and are not that easy to remove. It won;t just dry up like water would but, will leave behind a sticky conductive substance on the board basically shorting it out. Count your losses and purchase another television.
