Virus Software Wiped out a few of the old applications...

Hello All,

Avest! Virus Scanner wiped out a few of the best oldies. I search everywhere and found only the box and original disks to ClarisDraw1.0 updated ClarisDraw1.0v3. The best damn drawing application on the planet, I think so anyway. I have on problem I can't get the damn thing to install!! I have part of the registration card with the valid numbers, but it craps out on disk #4!! I do have the Macintosh version of the product registered and installed, but my IIci is very slow and frankly about 90 years old ;-). Does anyone have a full version of ClarisDraw for Windows for sale, trade, barter, donation ?!

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: CLARIS DRAW 1.0 print problem with Windows XP

Sounds like old software (1995) with a much newer operating system. I would upgrade to whatever is compatible with XP or take your OS back to what works with the software. I'd go with Corel Draw with XP. Vintage software has to be run with the same vintage OS to work properly. Hope this helps!

Be careful. Virus originators posing as driver providers are thick and heavy on the Internet. Virus scan any downloaded files before running them.

My external hard disk has been infested with viruses and files and folders made shortcuts. how can i recover the files and folders?

I have faced same problem. Shortcuts everywhere.
Not once, many times.

I tried many solutions.

Shortcut Virus Remover is the best solution I found.

A 100% free simple application.

You can download it from this link - http://www.shortcutvirusremover.com

Place it in your pen drive and double click to run. Press Enter to confirm its process. That is all. Shortcuts will remove and your data will be back in a second.

I have a sony vaio pcg-gr414sp laptop, I'm looking for the video driver for it, but can't find it anywhere

This model is pretty old - enough that Sony no longer supports it. If you don't have the original software repository off the C: drive or the recovery disks that came with the laptop, then you're stuck with buying drivers from 3rd party vendors (I found a few in a quick search). If you have the recovery disks AND a spare 2.5" hard drive (IDE, not SATA), then consider swapping the current drive with the spare one, and running the recovery disks on that 2nd drive. This will wipe out the contents of that drive, but it now holds the original software repository which has all the original drivers. You can make a CD of that driver directory, or pop the 2nd disk into an external USB disk case and use it to load the correct video driver for your original disk. This involves some money (spare hard drive and case) and opening your laptop to swap the internal drive.

How can get rid from Thinkpoint

A "Thinkpoint" is a computer-virus. On a virus-free computer, Google-search for 'remove thinkpoint'
to get some good advice.

Or, follow best practises, which state that you can never remove 100% of a computer virus.

So, disconnect the old disk-drive, and purchase a new disk-drive.
Install Windows onto the new disk-drive.
Install anti-virus software on the new disk-drive.
Connect the old disk-drive as a "slave" device.
Copy all your data files from "old" to "new".
Use the anti-virus software to scan the "old" disk-drive.
Completely "wipe" the old disk-drive, and then use it as a "backup" drive,
e.g., once a day/week/fortnight, copy everything from your 'My Documents' folder to that "old" drive.

In July 2005 we bought a Dell Dimension 3000 office computer and right from the start we could not connect to the internet or our network. Dell offered no help and just said "reinstall Windows"! Finally,...

Sorry about that here is what you need to read.....

You can set the NIC to On (default), Off, or On w/ PXE. When the On w/ PXE setting is active (available only for the future boot process), the computer prompts the user to press <Ctrl><Alt><b>. Pressing this key combination causes a menu to display that allows you to select a method for booting from a network server. If a boot routine is not available from the network server, the computer attempts to boot from the next device in the boot sequence list.

How to rid my computer of viruses

Use any Anti-virus scanner.
To start with you can use any trialware version of prominent anti-virus companies, like
norton
mcafee
bit defender
avg

you can try download.com to find free and trial based anti-virus programs.

Updating your virus scanner definitions regularly would minimize chances of getting infected again if your virus scanner is good.

Hp pavillion 9834

the best way to resolve this is to totally wipe your drive (hd) and reinstall os ...there are many other methods to resolve it but they take a long time and a lot of messing about and depending on what kind of bug/virus you have you could have more problems rectifying problems ....
if you were to take it to be repaired they would save programs you request ...check these programs for virus and then wipe your disk and reinstall fresh and reinstall your requested files(if no virus was found on them)if virus was found in files they would simply reinstall os fresh and inform you that your files could not be rescued.
