The parking brake wire is a ground engaged when you have the parking brake on. So just ground the wire. Make it a very solid ground or it won't work. You basically changing the grounding location from the parking brake to a different ground. When you put it on a new ground it will be active anytime. Where as with the parking brake, the wire only gets a ground when the parking brake is engaged, follow?
As far as just bypassing it flat out as in not using the wire you can't, not for viewing the screen anyway. The ground wire is a safety feature and must be grounded somewhere to view the screen.
If you installed a bypass switch then I just had the same problem. Let me just go over the wiring that we will use. As of right now you should have the (green) emergency brake wire and a small (black) ground wire. There is also a larger (black) ground wire that you attached to the vehicle ground plug. You will need an extra length of wire, I used black because it was for ground. Attach one end of this wire into the connection of larger ground wires. Attach the other end with the end of the smaller ground wire. Then you will attach your switch, one wire to the two ground wires, and the green wire to the other. It sounds a little complicated and I hope I didn't confuse you, but what you are really doing in reality is creating two grounds to one end of the switch and the green wire to the other.
Yes, there is a way to watch a movie without the parking brake engaged. The parking brake safety mechanism is there for a reason, and I do not suggest that you disable this sytem so that you can watch movies while driving. With that said, the simplest way to bypass the parking brake system is to take the parking brake wire from the head unit, run a wire to a chassis ground point, and then put a toggle switch inline so that you can flip it on and off. This will simulate the engaging/disengaging of a parking brake.
Again, I do not condone or recommend watching movies while driving. There are enough distracted people driving on the roads.
