Question about Car Audio & Video

Open Question

1999 BMW 540iT(wagon) had BMW cd changer in glove box. I purchased the stock changer with a magazine located in rear where OEM wiring was. I installed rear changer-power is getting to changer but no souns. When I hook up the new cghanger to plugs in glove box, works fine--old glove box unit will not work in rear-works fine in glove box. I figure the changer is not communicating with the radio. Any suggestions on fix? Thanks, Jim

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Basslink drops out.

The auto on switch should only be in the on position when the REM wire is NOT connected. Auto on can be flaky. Basslinks respond better to RCA inputs then the high level ones. You might try getting an RCA line converter, they work very well with the Basslink.

SOURCE: Remove CD Magazine - No power to unit!

You will need to power the unit to eject the cartridge you only need a 12v source, any car battery etc. Then you just do it like you always do it. It is correct that it is not operating without power.
Wish there was an easier way for you, but hooking it up to power is not to difficult.
Good luck and if you need any other info on the device let me know,

SOURCE: factory installed Alpine 6 CD Changer- cd magazine (for 1998 BMW 528i E39)

Hi , seen lots of these.
whats happend is the Tray that the disc sits in has jammed halfway in.
in most cases giving the mag a swift tap (hard tap) with the haddle of a screw driver , while pushing the eject button normally is just enough to dislodge the mag.

otherwise its a repair job.

were do you live Alison?

Cd changer

I'm not quite sure, but my expy has a cd changer in it.  The changer itself lives in the arm rest storage area (not in the back or the glove box). first step would be to see if your radio would support a changer, then I suspect you'd have to wire it up.

Need to know where the cd changer is in a 1999 mercury sable

if there is one, then it is probably ither in the glove box or in the trunk under/behind a panel (it should be clearly removable). you may also want to try looking in the center console.
