My Sylvania will load about 100 songs, or 1 gb, but is supposed to be a 4 gb. , but no more, even ones of of store-bought cds. I had a 1 gb Curtis, that worked fine, but this one will not load any more songs. When i try to load them through my Windows Media Player, all my other songs say an error has occured. Help!

i have the sylvania SMPK8854b... 4GB and if anyone knows how to get the videos to play i would appreciate it, i have converted them to avi but still havin "File Format" probs.

as for them saying they are full, i have not had any problems w/ that yet, you might try going through
    "My computer",
(right click your Device i.e. mine is drive E:)
    then select "Properties"
to see if its really full,
if it is full, try deleting the junk by double clicking on your drive and pulling it out that way, sometimes Windows media player cant "see" the files...

my smps4018 accepted 42 songs and worked fine. when I tried to add songs it keeps saying disk is full. Deleted the first songs and it accepted about 50 songs and comes up with disk is full. Windows says 3.2 gig free space but it still says disk full and won't accept anything else. Even tried formatting drive using FAT. Still no solution

I just bought the same MP3 player, 4GB, yesterday and had the same problem. Frustrating! After searching for a solution on the internet and not finding one, I tried the following and it worked for me:
Go to the main menu and select SYS (System). Select "Online Device" and there select "USB Disk". Hope this can help.

It is very easy to solve. Hook up USB cable from MP3 player to USB on your laptop. You will get question....Do you want to format this removable device.....say yes.....it may take about an hour to format the drive.....then it works fine.......unhook and hook up usb again......click on view files.............you will have an empty folder............move music folder from your computer to the device or copy your music from your pc to the mp3 player.............plays well no problems

I found a solution that works on several of the smps4018s I have run across. They were on sale at a local electronics store, and a number of us had the same problem, so when I found my solution I passed it on and it seems to work well.
The instruction book doesn't say it,but you have to put all the files into folders on the player. These machines seem to use an old filing system with limited space for directories, so by putting the files in folders, the root only sees the folder name, and the files actually get stored in a different place on the drive, leaving more space for other folders. It is like an old library card system You get directions to all kinds of books in the card index (root) that sends to to where the books (files) are on the shelf, but if you put the books on top of the index cards, you can't get at them any more.

How to put msic on it

Hi,
Install the Windows driver included in the product package before connecting your Sylvania MP3 player. Insert the included driver CD into your CD-ROM drive and run the setup file if it does not load automatically. This driver makes sure your computer can recognize and operate the Sylvania MP3 player.
  • 2 Insert one end of the USB cable into the USB port on the Sylvania MP3 player.
  • 3 Insert the other end of the same USB cable into the USB port on the computer.
  • 4 Wait for the computer to recognize the Sylvania MP3 player as a connected device. Open your file manager or browser to locate the Sylvania MP3 player as a drive or connected device if your computer does not prompt you automatically.
  • 5 Open the file folder containing the MP3 or WMA digital music files you wish to download to your Sylvania MP3 player.
  • 6 Drag and drop the file or folder icons of your desired digital music onto the Sylvania MP3 player device icon. Drag and drop the digital music into open folders within the Sylvania MP3 player device icon as well.

    Sylvania mp3 player smpk1021/smpk2021

Well folks after thinking about this long and hard, I have finally figured this little device out. What we all though was a piece of junk works!! Just wish some directions would have been sent with the MP3 Player. All you need to do is simple make sure you have Real Player the SMPK 2021 is completely compatible with this player drag and drop your music and add to your device. It works great.. you can also delete any old music and upload new music but all needs to be done through your real player!! You can also add videos the same way!!! I am more than willing to help you out... took me long enough to figure it out, hate to see someone bang their head against a wall as much as I have.... so good luck My Mp3 is now rockin
