Kathy...have you tried connecting another monitor to the same video card and computer? It could be...
1. Video card defective
2. VGA cable from computer to monitor defective...look for bent pins in plug.
The VGA cable from the computer video output carries three distinct colors...red, green and blue. Likewise one of these colors may not arrive at the monitor correctly or at all. The results being that all colors are incorrect.
If You really can't read anything on the screen this wont help. If you can make out a bit, then right click on a vacant area of your screen, then select "properties". On the Display Properties Menu, select "Settings", then select "Advanced". This will bring up a menu that shows your Monitor and Display Driver info. Select "Display", then select "Properties", then select "Driver", then select "Roll Back Driver". This will restore the old driver for the Display. If this doesn't help, go through the same menus again, and on the "Monitor and Display" menu select "Adapter" instead of "Monitor", and roll back that driver.
Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager. Select Display Adapters and uninstall it. Then Ask Windows to scan for new HW. Let it detect and install the display adapter.
If this does not work then select Monitor and uninstall it. Make Windows detect the monitor and install it.
You can check your monitor .Restart your system and press F8 till it appears "safe mode" then select safe mode and press enter if display comes.then run your system on that LCD monitor. When desktop appears right click on desktop blank area then select property option.then press setting tab and select advanced option. Then select monitor tab in next window and select minimum frequency(ex-60 hertz).

Note regarding LCD Drivers Since Westinghouse LCD (TVs and Monitors) are plug-and-play devices, they do not require any drivers. If your computer is unable to display at the recommended resolution, please check your graphics card to see if it supports the recommended resolution. You can periodically check the graphics card manufacturer's website for any update.
