I'm running a Creative 5300 5.1 computer speaker system. I wasn't sure why only 2 spkr worked as well as the sub, that worked also.....maybe audio wire, probably not, is it because all the songs other than dvd's are not recorded in 5.1.....maybe ....so I played a dvd recorded in 5.1 and the other spkrs still didn't work. Any sugg... TY

It depends on your sound card.
What is in the computer?
And what are you trying to hook up (5.1, 7.1 ?)

That's why I asked about the sound card in the computer.

You can have a 5.1 speaker system, but if you don't have a 5.1 sound card, with the correct drivers loaded, it won't work.

The card is what does the balance to the speakers.

So, I ask again, what sound card are you running in the computer?

What cable connects a Dell PC to a Harmon Kardon HK395 sub woofer?

3.5 m/m. Normally it is color coded green. The pink connects the subwoofer to the speakers. Any color will work. Just mark both ends of wire jacks.

My satellite speakers are no longer working, logitech do not issue replacement satellites. Do you know if their is a way to use alternative sattelites with the subwoofer?

the back of the sub has 2 rca connections for left and right speakers so all you have to do is either find satellites that use rca connections or find or make your own "clip-on" or detachable wire to rca connection.

How to connect

Check the wires.
One wire should end with a thin green pin.
Connect the green pin to the green socket on your computer.
If there is a black pin, you have a sub-woofer, and the black pin
connects to the black socket on one of the speakers.
Connect the wire with the 2-prong silver plug to AC power, e.g., to a power-bar.

Test the speakers.

Ive got creative inspire T7900 7.1 speaker system attached to my pc.one of the speaker connections in sub-woofer is faulty ? the sub-woofer seems to be a sealed unit so cant take panel off to have a look...

Is this connecting to a sound blaster audigy 2 zs or xfi soundcard? or a motherboard onboard soundcard/ aftermarket Other than creative?

If connected to the creative card odds are the wire is bad. get a new one

If connected to a generic the wires for the speakers are proprietary and you have to go get 3.5 to 3.5 stereo cables to hook it up

Subs dont work

To test speakers.A. Unplug speaker wires.
B. connect a 9volt battery to each speaker, touching one wire to the negative and the other to the positive breifly. The speaker should extend outward or inward, simulating the pumping of the cone. Depending on the polarity of the DC voltage hooked to the battery.
That's why it is important to wire the speakers correctly. Pos to Pos Neg to Neg.
You should know if the speakers or wired in series or parallele.
Google speaker wiring. Very informative.

everythink connects to the sub, so the 2 speakers the volume controll and the computer cable, then the computer cable comes out the sub into the green audio port on your computer :)

How to connect unpowered subwoofer to receiver with RCA sub out?

In order for this to work, you will need an external amplifier. Your receiver is set up to use a "powered" sub. With only speaker connections on the sub, it is a "passive" sub requiring a separate amp.

R-20 Sub stopped working.

might be a loose connection in the jack terminal. Sometimes pulling it in and out several times might free dirt or oxidation in the metal contacts. A contact cleaner is handy with this. Check also the wires for continuity. hope this helps..
