Reciprocating saw stopped working while cut...

I have had this saw for only a few years to do non-commercial projects around my house. The other day, I was sawing up some treated 2x4s to dispose of them and part way through it just siezed up with the blade fully retracted into the housing. I checked the electrical cable by plugging it in to several other working outlets to no avail. I cannot get the housing apart where the motor resides. The manual has no troubleshooting information. Thanks for any advice you can provide.
