Black doesn't print

I have a Brother DCP115c Printer
I replaced the Black ink on my printer after it ran out of Black.
Now when I print all colours are printing but not black. I replaced the black cartridge with yet another one, but it still does not print black. The printer reader shows black has ink but it does not print black. I cleaned a number of times and aligned, but still no joy

I have the same problem. I thought it was because I was using "refilled" cartidges, so I went out and bought new ones, and it's still happening.

I have the same problem. This morning, 11/18/08, it was printing fine until it needed a new black cartridge, then it cleaned, then it wanted a new yellow cartridge, then it cleaned. I was printing off a web site at the time, so it was in color. It finished that project, no problem. 2 min later tried to copy a black print page on glass plate. Sounds like it's copying fine, until it comes out blank. Tried that a few times, no help. Put colored print doc on glass plate, no problem, perfect copy. Pulled out new black cartridge I just installed and reinstalled it, still no black print..

I have same problem. Found if I remove and replace the black cartridge before I send a print job it will work. Be interested to know if that works for anyone else.

Your problem is a dust on the ink tank sensors.

SOURCE: Black do not print

Buy a new printer. These are so old now it's not worth the hassle.

Brother MFC-290C not printing black

Hi,

The nozzle may be blocked. So take out the colour cartridge and place its nozzle in a bit of water for about 10 mins. Bring it out and dab the nozzle with folded paper. If the tissue is blotted with the three colour it means you have unblocked the nozzle. Try now to print after returning the colour cartridge. You may need to repeat to get good results.

Thank you!!

See if there is a printer software setup option that will allow you to set B/W printing only. If not you may be out of luck. Could be this particular print device requires all colors available.

Printer not printing

Unfortunately, like most multi cartridge ink jet printers when one ink is empty the printer will cease printing regardless of whether you just want to print in black and white and you have plenty of black ink left. I have heard of people tricking the printer into believing the cartridge is full by placing coloured tape etc in front of the ink sensing device but I am not sure how the Brother senses the ink levels as i have some aftermarket ink cartridges for mine which seem to be completely non-opaque (unlike the originals). The need to have colour cartridges in even if you only ever print with black ink is good news for Brother as the MFC-210c uses a large amount of ink during it's routine cleaning cycles (that you cant stop) and will empty all 3 cartridges in under 6 months without ever printer a single drop of colour ink. Sorry about all the bad news, at least your not alone......
