The problame is same. Also the it indicate that a "Power DVD Software" is requred. But unfortunatly, the CD containing the said SW with me , some portion of the SL number has been erresed.

It's possible that the drive has died. CD and DVD drives are notorious for short lives but then I've seen some last 5 years. The lens could be dirty, just a small piece of lint is enough to cause hassles. Try using a Lens cleaner, available from all good audio shops. Some machines don't like +R disks and a firmware upgrade is needed. I've done many Liteon Drives with terrific results but if the manufacturer hasn't put one out then you're lost. It's possible you've used the wrong upgrade to fix your problem.

With the prices of drives today it's sometimes cheaper to replace it. Believe me they can die quickly, my record is a week from brand new to unuseable and that was a Sony.

Another possible problem is that I have run into problems where certain drives could not read certain disks. This could be because of problems with the laser, firmware, scratches, or any combination of those. Usually the quickest easiest way around a problem like this is to make a copy of the disk using a drive that reads it without any problems. This would might or might not work. In any case I would recommend getting a new drive.

I have a similar problem. One day the drive stopped reading data CDs, music CDs, or DVDs. The disk goes in, the light flashes, but no action. Headcleaners just don't work so the Samsung now has a date with the recycling centre. Probably best to buy a brand that has a longer lifetime than 2 years that has been shared with another DVD device on the machine.

My PC doesn't seem to detect ANY DVD's at all. It reads CD's but not DVD's.

I've tried tonnes of things such as changing the DVD rom region and other stuff

please help.
