Menu keeps coming on .

The menu keeps coming on and covering the program i am trying to watch. When i turn the power off, the program comes back for a few seconds and then the menu screen comes back on. How do i get this to go away? The menu keeps coming on when I turn the tv on. It will go away momentarily when I turn it off and on, but goes right back to the menu.
Also I cant get the menu to respond the way its supposed to, so I cant go through it and see if there is a way to cure this issue

First check for a short in all power semiconductors diodes, transistors, SCR, etc. Replace defective parts. The FBT coould also be defective. Check the voltage on each of his pins.

Hi,
this is very common. the ebuttons are bad on the tv and need to be replaced. i do these all the time. a charge might range 100-150. i know the buttons do work. what happens is they get what we call (leaky) they send partial signals causing the micro (the tv's brain) to think it is getting a signal and this can turn the tv on/off menus scrolling channels volume up or down.i just fixed one of these on tuesday and see two or three a week.it is even a techincal bulletin on a rca tech web site
on some rare cases i have seen bad connections around the micro cause this.
let me know if you need more info here.
Thank you.........

You can try a hard reset: Unplug TV from AC mains and remove all cables from TV. Wait about 30 minutes and replug to AC power and redo the cabling. Switch on the TV and see if it works..

I have a phillips tv model# 42hf9745d/27 I was watching tv and the power turned off tv I turned it back on the standby light comes on green but no picture need help to solve problem please.

Sounds like it could be a power surge issue. When the power came back on it could have over loaded your TV shorting out parts of the tv.

Does anything come on the screen at all? Do you get a logo when it turns on? Can you access a menu at all? Can you try plugging in a different device (DVD player etc) and get a signal?

If you're able to get a menu or logo to come on, then it could be a cable issue. Check that the cables are secure on the TV and other devices. If they're good then the TV is most likely fried.

Toshiba tv 40rv525u has started to change channels

My TV 40RV525U changing channels, menus itself for few months ( I use antenna).
my son tried to stop the channel scrolling by enter weird number into the channel to stop it scrolling such as 555, 777..
later, it turn on off by itself and unable to hold on a channel
I call Toshiba customer service and they ask money $25 for troubleshooting but I denied since I do not want to waste money and time.

Now, I found how to fix it myself.

In my case, something was wrong with the signal comes from the button control on the left side of the TV.
========================
What I did
========================
unplug the power cord.
Remove back cover.
Look into the motherboard ( biggest green at the center).

First, I disconnect a connector on the motherboard come from the IR board that receive the wireless signal control ( meaning the remote is disable).
I turn on the TV, press on Menu button on the TV side. Menu is still scrolling.

I turn off TV, disconnect power cord and connect the IR connector back to the motherboard.
I then disconnect the nearby connector that comes from the side control buttons.

Turn on the TV by remote, press menu button on the remote to check. The menu stays.

DONE.

I use electric tape to seal off the connector and let it hanging there.
Close the TV back panel

I have been watching TV for 3 nights without menus/channels scrolling.
NO AVAILABLE red message when watching DVD is no longer existed.

Hope this help someone else.

Toshiba 40rv525r screen says NOT AVAILABLE

I've had the same issue! This is caused by the control panel telling the TV what to do - does it change channels on its own, too, or turn off or on on its own?

What you need to do (if you've not already done it) is lock the control panel out, which you can do under the LOCK menu.

What may help is running the factory reset on page 54.

The menu screen will not go away!

Try to push the menu button on the tv itself numerous times and see if it will go away (since the buttons are not used often they become resistive and it could be any button,if that dont fix it then the main digital board is bad.
