Question about Intuit QuickBooks: Pro 2005 for PC
I purchased a new laptop with MS Vista OS. Loaded my Quickbooks Pro 2005 onto it. Set up my company and tranfered my data from my old laptop using my business net work connection. I can restore from the back up but can not up date on the new Vista laptop, I get an internet connection issue error code C=0. I have tried to establish an internet connection trhough intenet connection set up but keep getting the same error C=) which tell me to restart QB's.
There are a couple of things going on here.
First, and most important, Qb 2005 was not designed to run on Vista. Vista was barley even in the planning stages when 2005 was programmed. Vista will probably run it, but in a compatability mode ( pretending to be an older version of Windows), but updating the program will be nightmarish at best because the updates are pointing to files that are either 1) no longer used by Windows or 2) the versions and functionality of the files has changed.
My best advice- restore the backup on an XP box, or get a later version of QuickBooks that will run on Vista.
