Question about Emerson MW8102SS 1100 Watts Microwave Oven

Emerson MW81111ss Makes a pop and cracking sound

I have the above listed model. When you turn it on (it only does this sometimes) it makes a loud poppping sound inside. I have tried several things. If you take the turntable's glass plate out, it does fine. When you replace it, it makes the popping sound again. Also the heating of food is always way over heated. Anybody else had the same problem? Any suggestions?

The popping sound is the turntable not being attached fully. Look through the turntable and see if it is attached properly.

(I'm thinking that's model number MW8115SS?)

Quite often this is due to grease or food particles stuck to the inside of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

Thewaveguide cover (also called a spatter shield) is usually about thesize of a playing card and often held in place by a plastic rivet.

It can be fragile, and the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!

The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced. It provides important protection for the magnetron.

What could cause loud popping sounds?

The sounds you are hearing is the defrosted water, from auto defrosting, running onto the hot compressor. This evaporates the defrosted water. This is quite normal.

I bought a used Emerson microwave from a neighbor moving out of the building. He did not have an Owner's Manual to give me. I'm trying to find one online but there are so many models that Emerson makes. Is...

The model that you show in the picture is the MW8107WA which has that model number right on the microwave just at the very bottom of the keypad. I'm guessing that you've already looked in the back of yours for a metal plate or sticker that lists your model number on it. Sometimes this information can be found where the door latch meets the door handle on the inside of the microwave.

The manual for the model you have pictured can be found on this very site.
It's here:
http://www.fixya.com/support/p113437-emerson_mw8107wa_1000_watts_microwave/manual-11318

The instructions are all pretty basic as far as preset buttons and setting the clock and whatnot and so they should pretty much apply to most of the microwaves that Emerson has available.
As far as the instructions regarding weight defrosting of meats and poultry that's usually trial and error anyway.

The best way I know of to see as many pictures of Emerson Microwaves as possible would be to put the words:
Emerson Microwaves
into Google and then click the link for "images" (found near the top upper left the page) instead of the "search" button.

That should bring up plenty of pictures of their microwaves.

I HAVE OVER HEATED SOME BOILING EGGS AND IT BUST IN SIDE THE MICROWAVE NOW ITS MAKING THIS POP AND CRACKING SOUND IS IT SAFE FOR ME TO STILL USE IT

Chances are it just needs to be cleaned thoroughly.

If there's any food debris or grease left in the oven, it can arc and pop.

My goldstar above the stove microwave popped and now won't heat. Everything else on the unit still works. Is this a problem that can be repaired? Thanks.

Did it make a loud pop like a firecracker?
Sounds like the High Voltage Diode shorted out and it probably is making a low or loud growling noise now..... ???

Microwave made a loud pop, won't heat, sounds like it's only on half power, makes a low intermittent hum

This is almost certainly a blown high voltage diode.

Please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.

Emerson 1000 Watt Microwave

There is a good possibility that microwave energy is leaking near the magnetron tube, or some other high voltage electrical problem is occurring. I would recommend having it tested by qualified microwave repair technician. A few things you can do....
-Make sure the door seal is clean and no corrosion.
-Check the interior for rust spots or holes and make sure it's clean inside.
