Cleaning the pickup roller will only temporarily delay problem. The pickup roller and separation pad needs to be replaced to correct the multiple paper pickup problem. The roller and separation pad is easy to replace. These parts come in a kit caller RK-1320 the parts kit is available here: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=71
When the printer can not pic up paper this indicates the pick up roller and separation pad need to be replaced. These two parts come in the preventative maintenance kit under part number RK-1320 this kit is available here:
1-There is a plastic knob that press the laser unit's shutter at the front door check and make sure that it is OK .
2-there are some earthing wire, at left side that connect with toner, some time these wires pressed down and not connected with toner and the print comes blank.
could actually be the paper your using. make sure your using at the very least multipurpose paper or laser paper. check to make sure your settings for paper is also set to regular paper and not cardstock or special paper or anything else
I see this problem alot after a paper jam occurs and someone has pulled the stuck paper out. There is probably a piece of paper stuck in the printer somwhere. If you open the front toner door and take the cartridge out, you will see a roller at the bottom front. DON"T touch the roller but take it out. You may find the paper there!
Check carefully for any small scraps of paper caught in the paper path. Do a 1/2 way test, do a print job, listen for the paper to get just under the toner then quickly open the front of the printer (may take a few tries) see if the paper is folded there or if it's happening later that way. If it is folded before entering the fuser, you probably have a small piece of paper in the paper chute somewhere. If it's not and folds later, the fuser is probably worn badly.
Managed to solve this myself: I disassembled the printer and noticed there was a paper jammed in the duplex tray. Rolls were all ok, but the paper blocked the use of the duplex pathway. For disassembly help check the HP 1320 service manual, which you can find on the net as a PDF.
