Hp all in one C7280, I cannot send a fax. I get an error print out that says Error 388, image on fax send report is set to off...Please help me to fix this by e-mail or by phone 310-576-7890. Thank you,...

Hi-

try this

388 The local machine has originated a fax session and detected a remote fax machine but has been unable to detect any T30 frames. If the machine is in V.17 mode, it is likely the connection has been interrupted. In V.34 mode is also possible for this error to occur due to compatibility problems with certain machines and/or line conditions.

Solution:

1. Reattempt the fax transmission at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.

2. Disable V.34 on the local machine and attempt the transmission using the V.17 mode. (See error 227 for changing to a slower speed or disabling V.34 .)

We are unable to find the literature that came with this machine. What is Error 388?

Hi There,

HP All in One Error 388 is a FAX transmission error code that means the Fax software has encountered too much noise on the telephone line to talk to its destination. It's not a problem with your printer. The solution is to wait until line traffic noise subsides (try again later).

If you're not trying to send a fax then your software installation may be flawed in some way and uninstaling and reinstalling the printer would likely resolve the issue.

Best Regards.

Problem faxing-error message

Error 388:
Definition

There is too much noise on the line for a valid connection between two fax machines to complete. The noise problem might go away over time.

Solution

Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.

Error 403:
Definition

During a V.34 transmission, the local machine is unable to connect (handshake) with the remote machine and is consequently unable to send a T30 frame. This occurs when the line is disconnected or if line conditions degrade during the session.

Solutions
  • Remove any pass-through devices from the phone line, and then try the fax again.
  • Confirm that the fax/phone cable is no longer than required, and that it does not pass near unshielded electric motors such as fans, heaters, or household appliances.
  • Try to send the fax at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.
