Hi I have a BC245XLT trunk tracker II scanner that was bought new about 3 years ago.
I am trying to program it but except for the "manual" key and "scan" key the keyboard is dead.
No new frequencies can be entered.
I'm wondering if there is something locking the frequencies -the scanner works good on the frequencies previous programmed and most not trunk tracking. Like 155.233 or 42.20 They work but I can't remove any or program any. The keyboard is completely shut off except for the manual key.and scan key.

Hello majorhart, I have never owned this model scanner, but by looking at the owners manual I see there is a keylock, which locks the keypad.
If you need a copy of the manual, go here and download. http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC245XLTom.pdf
I hope this helps out with what you were looking for,,Mechanc.

I no longer provide support for any scanners. As a Police Dispatcher I was working when two police officers were ambushed and killed because a person listening to a scanner told the suspects the police were coming. They should be outlawed.
Your best choice for software is the BuTel program. You can find it on Butel.com, ScannerWorld.com, or RadioReference.com. Once you have it installed you can download and program both conventional and trunked systems directly from RadioReference.com. I have the BCD996XT with Butel and RadioReference, and the combination works great.
Try updating the firmware and see if this solves the problem. While I understand that it "worked before", some of the programming software has been updated to work only with the newer firmware. Also, the newer versions of programming software are required when importing systems directly from radio database sites (such as radioreference.com).
If this does not work, try to enter system data by hand rather than importing. If trunking works then, it sounds like a software problem with your programming software versus the radio itself.
If its just a normal frequency then select Hold/Resume and press the arrow keys until you find the selected channel, then program in the frequency for example 130.000 you have to make sure the decimal point goes in with the frequency then press (E) then press the arrow key up to go to the next channel and program and repeat steps.
Then select scan you may need to activate the banks so when scanning just press 1,2,3,4,5 so next to the bank icon all 5 should be up.
The BR330T is an analog only scanner. Prince William County's system is 800 MHz digital, which your scanner cannot receive. You can receive the fire department simulcast of "5A" (their fire dispatch channel) on 154.325 in analog mode.
