Check the settings in the bios to enable the track ball. Most of the time that is where it is enabled or disabled. You can also check Dell's support website for additional software that may allow you to configure additional settings (similar to IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads).

I don't recall the specific key to press to get into the bios, its either F1, F2, F10. You need to do this from a cold start when the laptop is off. Press the power button and when you see the Dell logo, look for the bios settings key to press or press one of them that I suggested. Sometimes this may go by quick so you need to be quick about it as well.

Hope this helps!

Replacement marble ball where can I get one

Hi
On european english-languaged site of logitech you can find spare part shop

http://www.logitech.com/en-roeu/349/4872?pcid=4872&debug=0

there are only blue balls in 5Eur/piece cost, but looking into some forums I fonud answer that someone succesfully tried if trackman (so marble would too) works with blue ball (of course You should confirm it by finding the same kind of posts on some forums before buying)

Worst of all is they're do not offer posting to USA grrrrr !
Cheapest is posting to Germany (5,51Eur), so if You have someone in Germany, they can send You it to USA

Eventually try to look on asian site of Logitech, maybe there's english-languaged site version, ant they offer shipping to USA

Greets :)

My computer comes on opens windows all looks ok as soon as i touch the cursor, nothing responds,

Make sure that the track-pad (mouse-pad) is not disabled. There should be a button located above the track-pad that allows you to disable or enable the track-pad. If not, I would use a USB mouse and then go into the Control Panel, mouse and change settings there to enable the track-pad.

Optical track ball is sticking. How clean it and what to avoid?

An "optical" mouse has *NO* track-ball.

If you do have a mouse with a track-ball, then rotate the "ring" that holds the track-ball inside the mouse, to "unlock" the ring. Remove the ring. Look inside the mouse. You'll see two rollers.
Look for accumulated "gunk" in a ring at the center of each roller. Gently scrape each roller, to clean it. Re-insert the mouse. Re-insert the ring. Rotate it, to "lock" the ring into place.

Cursor when using Logitech Trackball sometimes drifts up or down

I finally just was able to solve this problem! I saw somewhere that someone had made sure their primary mouse was selected under hardware, which got me thinking. I thought I had seen a second mouse option somewhere. So, I went into my Control Panel > System > Device Manager and click the arrow next to Mice and other pointing devices. Sure enough, there were two listed. A seemingly generic one and my Logitech I've been using. I right clicked on the generic one and chose disable and the drifting IMMEDIATELY stopped. I went so far as to re-enable that generic to see if it was a fluke because it had stopped drifting on its own yesterday, nope as soon as I enabled the generic device, drifting started again. So Happy!!!

I dont deem to have a middle mouse button

I believe if you go into the control panel, click on classic view on the left hand side of the screen, then click on the Mouse icon, you should be able to configure the mouse from there. If you can't then download the specific software for your USB mouse and you should be able to do it then for sure.
