Question about Sony KV-32S26 32" TV

2 Answers

Sony KV-32S26 My TV turns on & works perfectly only when it is cold. After a few seconds the picture fades away on the top, then TV turns black. If I try to turn it on again, red light just blinks. If I wait long enough, the TV may be back on, then the problem repeats. It seems there are some kinds of magnetic problems as if I move the TV around, the picture may stay on for a while. Sometime, it gets better if I tap the TV before the picture fades away. I believe it is a hot solder problem on the CRT driver, but I can't find it. Please advise.

LOL No BP its not a hot solder problem . Your problem with this model is called a cold solder connection, and is very common! Its location is a secret. HE HE just kidding!! Had ya going didnt I?? LOL Ok its the primary as well as the secondary connections on the Horizontal DRIVER transformer AND/ or the little coil right next to the transformer. It needs to be resoldered BUT should be donr by a quilified service tech as theres alot of Hi voltage inside these sets and is not a place for a handi-person to be tinkering around in. Its no biggie to have a tech do the job right the first time .. Good Luck

I have a sony tv model kv-32s26 and the scrren turns off and on every 10 seconds ..i think the screen no longer works ..my question for you is...can this problem be solve without having to buy another...

If the screen does the same thing with all sources (TV,VCR,DVD), then it is most likely the main control board. The cost to fix or replace it would be more than the cost of a new tv.

Jar-Head, bad news, the picture tube has a mild short in the green cathode, tech can come out and try to restore it but it`s usually a futile attempt on sony tubes, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, BMW Rider

Sound and no picture

Hi, if your getting half a picture AND the other half is black the vertical circuit is failing, either solder is broken or vertical IC needs to be replaced, not a pricey fix, BMW Rider

video card went out in the tv. You are saying you need a schematic. Be real careful getting into tvs. They have very large capacitating capacitators in them that can electrocute you. You need to take it to a repair specialist and have them run a check on it. Sounds like the video card to me though.

Picture goes off an on "blinking" when turened on

Most likly is a cold solder connection in the horizontal oscilator circuit, a problem with the vertical sweep circuit, or could be in the video jungle circuit. Unless you know how to troubleshoot solid state electronics, A TV set is not the place to be experimenting in unless you wanna get seriously killed!! Call out a pro to assist you if you feel you like the set and dont mind investing a few hundred bucks. Good Luck
