1 Answer

HP Photosmart C5180 (wont accept photo paper but will normal paper)

Im trying to print a photo on a4 glossy photo paper, but the printer keeps on saying load paper face down as it seems that it will not feed in. You can see and here it try and pick it up but then you just get the same message. Ive tried using normal plain paper and prints fine and picks it up straight away. This printer is over a year old now but i have only used it twice...The paper is proper HP paper so i cant see the problem!! Help Please

Load the printer with the slick glossy paper face down. See if it will print.

SOURCE: Printing options have disappeared (re plain paper; glossy paper; CD etc)

here is ur fix

The paper types available in the driver are dependent on which type of black ink cartridge is loaded in the printer. If the Photo Black ink is loaded, you should have various glossy paper choices. If the Matte Black ink is loaded, you will have a choice of plain or Matte paper types. Once the cartridge is switched, you will get the corresponding paper choices.

Be careful running "Glossy" paper through your laser printer. Make sure the paper package says that the paper is "Laser" paper. If your not careful the glossy part of the paper will melt on to your fuser leading to a major repair!

SOURCE: wont feed glossy photo paper

Clean the feed roller(s) with a cloth dampened with alcohol. They are probably slippery with paper dust.

My HP Photosmart 3310 will not pick-up A4 glossy photo paper in the main tray. 6x4 works fine in the photo tray

Your printer might have opening area for clearing paper jams, also on that area there are some rounded parts that do actual picking-up of paper. Clean those parts with some non-agresive cleaning agent and try again.

Paper jammed but no paper is jammed.

Sounds like something has fallen into the paper path. Use a flashlight and small mirror to look down the slot where the paper goes. You may have to use a straightened paper clip or the like to help remove the obstruction.

I am unable to print photos usingthe HP Photo Papers

Does it print on normal paper ?

If it does is then you need to look at the material you are trying to feed, there a limit on what thickness of material your printer will happily accept

Media comes in all different thicknesses and forms (We make the stuff) and some printers will struggle to feed 200gsm photo glossy etc

You could try cleaning the infeed rollers with an alcohol based cleaner to improve their grip.

Even Gin or Vodka will suffice as they both clean and evaporate quickly

Try to change your paper type to plain paper - it could be because it is a bit glossy that it thinks it's photo paper that is not inserted correctly.

Kodak 5300 wont print on glossy side of photo paper

I just sussed this issue out. On the front of the printer tray there is another pull out tray, this opens up and must activate the photo printing for A4 because it stops the paper falling on the floor once printed (cos once printed on photo paper it may still be wet). As soon as I opened the tray (and it then opens again - you'll see what I mean) it printed A4 photo paper perfectly
Hope this helps others
