  • sangu27 Nov 02, 2008

Same problem, Roomba 570, clean roomba brushes keeps coming back every 2 mins of cleaning.

  • Anonymous Nov 25, 2008

roomba makes a funny clicking sound and cleans for about three minutes, not very well i might add, then says please remove and clean roobas brushes. I have removed and cleaned his brushes numerous times and yet he still doesnt work properly. Some times he also spins around in a circle then turns off.

It's not primarily the brushes that need cleaning.......you have to pull off the end caps (think red & yellow) and clean behind them. They get carpet strands wound around shaft.

I am unable to replace the brushes. They won't fall into place and I can't find the manual, though replacing brushes doesn't look complicated.

Roomba 500 Series have a serious problem with hair and other fibers working their way into the drive gears. The resulting resistance in the drivetrain is interpreted by the machine as overloaded brushes. People who experience this problem should complain to iRobot technical support. If the machine was purchase less than a year ago, they should ship a replacement assembly to you at no charge.

If you go to the roomba website you can buy a small kit that contains the replacement brushes and filters, both of which are easy to change. also check the big wheels try to clean any hair or thread that are around them, don't take the big wheels apart . A razor blade is easiest but be careful.

I am unable to reinstall the brushes. Since the original brush didn't lay properly I tried installing the kit that came with the appliance. Same problem.

I have cleaned & cleaned this thing! It runs for about 2 mins & stops, says "Clean Brushes"! and now it's very noticeable it's not picking up well... but is picking up a bit. I take the dust bin...

Ok, this is a "Brush Height Adjustment" issue. It will probably work great on a hard surface but on carpet the brushes bog. If you've taken the unit apart already...Sorry....do it again. When you do, you'll see a String which allows the brushes to "Float" on different surface heights. Loosen the screw a little and pull a bit more string through. Re Tighten the screw and put it together enough for a test run. Now reset the roomba. To reset the Roomba, power the Roomba on, and press the Spot, and Dock buttons together for at least 8 seconds. Until it plays a tune. The clock, and any schedule is erased at this time. Try running the Roomba with the dust bin removed to see the brushes spin easier.

Second method, is taking off the bottom cover, and removing the battery. While it's removed, and not plugged into the charger, press the clean button for at least 20 seconds. This will erase the memory. Replace battery, and cover. Run the Roomba to see if the brushes start to spin. You can also remove the brush housing by removing the 4 screws and reseating it, to see if it was a bad connection, since you have the bottom cover off.

Irobot roomba brush only spins on hardwood/tile. brush stops when it hits carpet. motor prob's? fix?

Remove and clean the yellow bearing on each brush, then reinstall them. Run the Roomba and ensure that the brushes do turn on hardwood, then test it again on carpet. If the brushes still stop turning on the rug, call customer support at 1-877-855-8593. They'll be able to determine your warranty status and discuss your options.

New Roomba 560 beep twice, ask to clean brushes, but no dirt

your roomba is thinking that you need to clean the brushes. if too much load it put on your brush motor--the unit will think that something is wrapped around the brush and slowing down the motor. if you have cleaned your brush and are sure that is not the problem; you need to look for anything else that could be slowing down the brush/motor. If this is inconclusive you need to put your roomba into diagnostic mode by following the procedures in the link below http://swiftracer.com/index.php?myPage=RoombaDiagnosticMode.php

Good Morning, My Roomba makes a banging sound and the brushes don't turn. It stops after about two minutes. Thank you & regards, Judith Halls

Hi Judith,

after removing and cleaning your Roomba's brushes & bearings (see the manual for instructions), try running the unit without the dust bin. You can watch the main brush while the Roomba runs. If it's not turning, it's time to call support.

Roomba keeps saying clean brushes yet are clean!

Make sure you take off the little cap at the end (the one that spins -- just grab it and pull it straight off) and clean under it too. The rest of the brush may look perfectly clean but what happens is that hair gets stuck under spinning cap and, like a slowly growing washer, it pushes the whole brush toward the gear box. When it gets pushed over enough, the large yellow ring starts to rub against the side of the brush deck making it harder for the motor to turn the brush and you get that "remove and clean brushes" message.

Please clean Roomba s brushes warning will not stop after brushes have been cleaned Unit shuts off after one minute of cleaning

Clean the yellow brush bearings. Then run the Roomba without the dustbin, so that you can watch the brush while the unit is cleaning. Is it turning? If not, call customer support. 877-855-8593. Have your Roomba with you; they will want information from it. Good luck.

Brushes not spinning....

My status light came on, the vac beeped twice and stopped. I noticed my brushes weren't spinning. I took an eyeglass screwdriver and took off the center screw that holds on the brushes. I cleaned the shaft that the brushes spin on. replaced brushes and it works great! I just did this now and it is still running. my status light problem is fixed my roomba is 4 years old and I am on my 2nd battery. Seems to have fixed the problem. FYI it was wrapped with hair, dirt and it was greasy.
