Re: Vibrates and sounds for no reason
Check to see if you have enabled notifiers for coming in and out of cellular coverage, data coverage, bluetooth, etc. I disabled these notifications.
Otherwise try switching the ringing profiles and see if it continues. If it stops after switching profiles, then you know it is something in your selected ring profile.
If it continues, try resetting the device. I would recomend downloading the Blackberry Desktop software to backup your phone. After resetting the phone, see if it vibs and rings randomly (note: no not restore the backup yet).
If it still does, try to update the Blackberry OS software on the phone from the same place you downloaded the BB Desktop software or your cell provider. If it stops, then restore your backed up data. If it starts up again, then it's a setting in your old config.
These are some of the things the cellular provider would do. Hope this helps!

i would check your profiles. usually the default setting for the load profile is for it to vibrate twice and then ring, so that usually only gave you two rings to answer the phone after it vibrated twice. make sure that within your profile setting that you have it to ring with a tone, and make sure you have a volume selected. i would also use blackberry desktop manager and perform a back up or sync of your blackberry, and then perform a wipe handheld. the wipe hand held feature is in your options---security---general settings---and then press your options button (right of the trackball) and select wipe hand held. you will type the word blackberry and then it will wipe the handset. after it resets try the volume before you restore it, if you still don't have volume your speaker is bad.
Go to profile, select advance, you will get all the profiles highlight any one of the profile, then press Menu key, select Edit, then select Phone, you will get an option called Out of holster, press Menu key, select Change option under this select Tone, Now you're will only ring.
To help you with this problem, I want you to know that when a cellphone
got fell, the main problem will be make is lost in display, you will not
see anything but you can hear something like message tone and start-up
tone, you can also receive calls. Don't be worry with that kind of
problem. To tell you whats happening inside your phone is your LCD of
display connection is only misaligned. Get it to the nearest cellphone
repair center to get your cellphone to be open by a technician and
probably they will do dismantling your phone and fix the problem. Hope
this could help. Don't forget to say thanks..:-)
go to your ring profile, scroll down to advanced options, click on profile you want to update, usallt the one that says active next to it. This should open up and have a list of options, phone, email, messenger, etc. scroll down to sms text and click the track ball. now pick and choose which ring tone you want, however many vibrates, and rings etc. once you are done, click the back button and save the changes.
I think this works the same on all providers but I have TMobile. I saw an alltell phone and it was just slightly different. Get into your sound profile (where it allows you to set current setting LOUD< QUIET, VIBRATE, NORMAL etc.
1. Scroll down until you see "Advanced". Highlight and open
2. Select your active sound profile, i.e. LOUD.
3. Open it, scroll down to SMS, open it.
4. Under Tune, scroll to BROWSE. Mine is at the top of the list.
5. Select where the tune is stored (MEDIA CARD).
Assuming you have an 8100 pearl I believe for some reason this phone does not do mms. either that or the following is true.
With certain wireless providers a BB data plan may be required for MMS
to function. For example, T-Mobile has a $0.00 feature that can be
added to a persons account to enable MMS (which is included in
messaging packages) without enabling full data capabilities. I believe
Alltel offers a similiar feature. Contrastingly, ATT BB's cannot send
or receive MMS without the $30, minimum, BB data feature being on the
account. I'm waiting for a class action suit against ATT for taking
subscribers money for messaging packages, that include picture
messaging, but not providing all of the services being paid for by some
PDA phone users.
