Ntbackup causing server to crash and reboot

Hi,
Running windows 2003 server standard edition and using ntbackup to Dat tape.

Have problem with backing up the whole system.

I can run a small back up of a few files to the tape drive with no problems,
but when I try and backup 30/40Gb the process runs for 15/20 minutes and then causes the server to reboot.

I have loaded all the latest drivers for the tape drive and the latest service packs.

Help please.

Hi

To reply your query in short. If you have any of the following versions of server it would support the maximum RAM upto 4 GB.

Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition
Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition SP1
Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition SP2
Windows Storage Server 2003
Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition

If you are using : Windows Server 2003, Web Edition
It will support only 2 GB of RAM

Check whether the back up service is running properly or not. Once restart the Help and Support service in Services menu which can be accessed by running services.msc in Run Tab.

Window 2003 AD NTBackup Problem

Reboot into Directory Services Restore Mode (F8 at startup) and use NTDSUTIL
to check the integrity of your database. Usually, an offline defrag will
fix this kind of error. If it doesn't, and the integrity checks fail,
you'll need to try and repair. Note that there could be issues with the
repair so be prepared to restore from backup.

Google NTDSUTIL for the syntax. There's loads of info. on TechNet2.
