I recently bought a used 40 gb classic apple ipod. I downloaded iTunes for my ipod. When I plug my ipod into the usb on my computer it charges my ipod but it doesn't allow me to delete old music on the ipod nor add new music. The ipod plays the music it has on it fine and charges via computer and wall charger but no new music can be added. Please help!
Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: ipod not recognized by computer or itunes
I had the same problem. The problem ended up being with Itunes not working right. The solution I found was to download the program winamp and download the plugin for apple ipod. Then you can sync and add software thru winamp. After syncing one time it even worked with itunes but I like winamp better, so I synch all music using winamp.

SOURCE: APPLE I POD ERROR 1439
Hold the "Menu and Center button" until it shuts down, then when you se the apple, hold "Menu and Play/Pause button"
That will force the ipod into disk mode, it will allow you to restore the iPod with iTunes and re-upload the song onto it.
If this doesn't help try older ver. of itunes (ver. 7) http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm to restore it.
If this doesn't help you need to go to apple store and let them fix/change your ipod.

SOURCE: My Ipod doesn't show up on Tune Tools
You may need to restore the iPod in iTunes. You could try to install Tune Tools on another Mac and see if it works there. It is possible that the software version you have does not support the Classic. There may be an updated version that you need to install to use it with the Classic. Check the authors site or the documentation for supported models.
Cheers
