Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have installed a Techwood DV925B Digital Terrestrial Receiver but when turning on the tv to the first channel (usually BBC1) the picture and sound is badly out of synch. This corrects itself by switching to another channel and back again but it is a nuisance. Is this a flaw or can it be corrected please? Thanks John

What type of cable/wire is being used between the receiver and the TV? To make sure the TV isn't the culprit, do other devices like a DVD player work just fine?

Have installed a brand new Gold Plated Scart Lead (original Scart was probably defective). Incidentally this is not a Projection TV but an attempt to prolong the life of an old-fashioned Cathode Ray Tube.

Picture format

The HD reciever shouldn't be the problem.

If you recieve an image with a 4:3 aspect ratio, the image will be displayed at that ratio on your HDTV unless you specify otherwise. To do so go to your TV's Setup screen

setup
Choose picture formats
select smooth wide as your default

***Some digital (ATSC format) stations may transmit 4:3 images in a way that will not allow expansion. You will be unable to adjust the picture format.

Hope this helps!!!

I have a Wharfedale Digital Freeview Receiver LPDV832B, having set this up following the instructions provided it appears I am not receiving all the freeview channels available ie BBC1, please advise.

It is very possible that you require an aerial upgrade to receiver all the digital channels available, you should check with a local aerial installer.

My tv jumps from channel to channel and turns itself off you can be watching bbc1 and it goes off and comes back on to itv

It sounds like the circuit board that controls the channel/volume/power/etc. is shorted out. You'll probably have to contact the manufacturer and see if the set is still under warranty. If not, contact a local TV repair shop and tell them what the problem is and if they can give you a quote over the phone to fix it. You can then either get a second opinion from another repair shop, or weigh out the price of a new TV against the cost of repair. Hope this helps...

Echostar t101 fta digi box retuned and lost bbc1 bbc2 itv and channel 4 all to channels 801 and above any help and advice would be very kind

This is due to NIT in DVB-T transmission

Digital UK estimates that "only 1%" of Freeview receivers are susceptible to this change - technically, the introduction of a multi-part Network Information Table within the digital data.

The effects on some of those STBs and VCRs are plainly malfunctions, such as abnormal channel numbering e.g. Channels may be listed, but they're assigned to all the same number or assorted incorrect numbers. Alternatively, no pictures are seen, despite all channels having high ratings for signal strength.

New aerial wont pick up digital reception and fuzzy picture on terrestrial channels

Hi.

If you put aerial up your self was it wide band aerial ?
Is it in the atic or on the roof ?
Have you used decent quality cable (not the cheap stuff)
How long is cable run from aerial ?
Have you checked that when you fitted rf plugs that none of the braid strands are touching solid copper inner core ?
Ask an earial installer or Tv shop what the signal strength is like in your area.
