Re: compaq monitor blank screen
If its a blank screen all the time that never shows anything not even a screen at startup then it sounds like the internal cable from your monitor to the motherboard of the laptop is unplugged or possibly broken. You need to remove the keyboard from the laptop to check this.
I recommend bringing the laptop to a professional if you have no experience with opening laptops.

is it still under warranty with the store you purchased it from? if not get in touch with the company you should be able to find an 800 number and or an address it should still be under warranty with them and pleas say you still have your receipt from the original purchase. you may be able to send it in and they may fix it or find it defective and send you a new one.
Can you check the function buttons and make sure the primary display is set to show the output on the laptop. Try repairing your OS. If not then re-install the os. As you are saying till the time windows gets loaded, all works fine so it seems the issue isn't really the hardware.
You can troubleshoot this at home, work, or a friend's house by connecting your laptop to an external monitor. On a Compaq you will need to hold down the "fn" key and press the "F4" key once they are connected to transfer the signal to the external monitor.
If the external monitor displays your normal screen view, then your laptop's screen (LCD) has failed. If it does not display and shows the same screen as your laptop, then your video controller on the laptop's motherboard or another motherboard problem is the issue.
In either case, you will likely need to send this laptop in for warranty repair.
Did it display any video at all with boot options or HP logo?
Any POST test or beeps after you started the laptop?
Try removing the power ac adapter and battery. then only boot it up with just the AC adapter (no battery).
Good Luck, JAJ
I assume that when you dont use your computer you put it in a sleep mode by pressing sleep button ..so if this is the problem you are facing than there is nothing wrong with your video card and solution for this problem is that remove both the power cables and also remove the battery for time being, after some time put back your battery in the laptop and plug the power cable and restart your laptop it will work fine........... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Was this solution helpful.Show your appreciation by rating it.
If you are hooked up the the external monitor and/or TV and can see the desktop, you can probably reselect the internal display via software from Display Properties.
In most cases you can change from the external display to the internal and vice versa by holding down the blue Fn key, and hitting the proper number on the keyboard. The correct key has a blue icon meant to resemble a monitor on it.
This is if the repair/replacment of the internal screen was done correctly and the screen is actually working. If the screen is not actually working, though, this will not help you.
