Do not do a repair install !!!. The system only loading safemode is a sign of a video driver problem, from safemode do the following. 0. Completely uninstall your all/prior video drivers.
1. Disable all startup items. Once that is done reboot and you should be able to load windows normally, you can them reinstall your eVGA 7800GT drivers and also enable only needed startup items (MSCONFIG).

What does starting in safe mode acconplish?

Booting in safe mode simply launches the operating system with minimal services enabled, usually no network availability, and a limited ability of usage, safe mode is used when diagnosing possible threats or for emergncy data access. In the event that the computer has stopped you from gaining access to it. A computer should never forcefully start in safe mode, it is an option usually selected on a black and white screen, start normally or start in safe mode, or start in safe mode with network. Hope this explains is a little better

I was useing my computer and the screen turned blue and said unable to load windows. it wont strat up again it just keeps going to the blue screen. it will only turn off it i pull out the battires.

There is a virus which has corrupted some files and therefore it is unable to load windows. In this case you have to reload windows with the help of CDs which came with the computer. If you had made a start up CD, which is advised, when you purchased the computer, that will be very helpful in this case. The only set back will be that you will loose certain data as everything will be reset to factory settings.

Hello: I have a computer running Windows XP Media Edition SP2. Several weeks ago, I started experiencing boot up problems with my computer. It stops booting in normal mode. It will boot in safe mode. When...

It looks like you installed the wrong drivers for your motherboard.  It can cause a Blue Screen Of Death.  Also how many hard-drives do you have in that computer?  IDE?  Are the jumpers set to CS?  I find that CS causes problems.  If you have 2 devices on a ribbon cable make one master w non ATA   and the second device as slave.  Also the boot.ini could be confused.  Is the boot.ini on the wrong hard-drive   Did you accidentally put 2 operating systems on the same computer?  lots of things could have caused this.

My computer stuck up with the setup mode

Put the disc back in, and restart the computer if you are very, very lucky...it will start from the point it stop.
If not I am afraid you'll just have to start again from square one. I don't know anyway around it. Besides it is better to have a good clean install, and no headaches later.
good luck, please leave rating...and don't kill the messenger- thank you

Windows XP won't boot and safe mode doesn't work

Well hate to give you the bad news but it sounds like your hard drive as died. The error code you mentioned (0X000000ED) designates file system damage. (Referenced here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297185). Your best solution would be to replace the hard drive in a repair shop.

Try restarting in safemode.  Shut down your computer, then manually restart tap either the F8 key or F9 key, sorry I don't remember which key it is, but try F8 first.  Then go into safemode, when it's loaded try a restart and see what is does. Good Luck
