Are you able to turn the TV back on immediately or do you have to wait? If the TV is consistently shutting off around 20 minutes, this may indicate an overheating issue. It is possible that you need to clean the TV out of dust or it may mean your cooling fan is dead or not revving up when the temperature rises. If you are not able to turn the TV back on right after it shuts off, overheating is likely the issue, as you would be forced to wait until it cools down. If you are able to turn it back on, for how long? Does it continue to shut off after another 20 minutes? It is possible that the thermal sensor on the mainboard is defective, or that the software that controls the sensor maybe corrupt. Service or a firmware update may resolve this. You would have to contact the manufacturer.

One side of my tv heats up on my pioneer pdp4214hd

Because this is a Plasma flat panel there are fans in the back of the unit that will keep things cool. It sounds like there may be a fan that is not working on the left side. I know that my plasma runs very warm, around 98 degrees F. The power supply is also on the side that you are talking about. Since the set is still working, I would not suspect any other problems, but, I would not run it very much until the unit is repaired.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Remote control dosnt work on this tv

I have the same plasma Pioneer tv. I also tried a replacement remote and no fix. I replaced the infrared receiver module (~$4 from Radio Shack) on the TV, yes it involved taking the tv apart. Voila, now I have two working remotes.
