1700 watt fog machine keep tripping GFC and blowing fog machine fuse

Just bought a 1700watt fog machine that keeps blowing the GFC in the garage when I turn the machine on. I tried then plugging it into a kitchen outlet and it blow the fuse in the fog machine. I replaced the fuse and tried the pluging it in to a outlet in the basement. This time it didn't blow but I didn't trying the fog machine in the house. Any ideas what the problem is? In the garage there is a 220 outlet with the weird plug? The manual of the fog machine is at http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:HEWjL9TQv5AJ:www.chauvetlighting.com/system/pdfs/f1700.pdf+Chauvet+F-1700+manual&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=4&gl=us

Thanks

The fog machine needs to be on a dedicated line because of the wattage it does and the amp is rated as a 15 means the circuit breaker on this line needs to be 15 min safe at 20....
the fog machine is like a mircrowave and any major appliance needs dedicated lines not shared with lights or outlets besause it draws a lot of power to start and run and depends how long watts is simular to power the more light bulbs connect to a circuit breaker adds up 4 75w light bulbs adds up to 300 watts and that not includling outlets that may be connected....
not a gfci Unless dedicated at 20a....

Have a old candy floss machine don't know the make but when heat switch is turned on, the temp dial don't work and it blows the fuse, how can i find a new temp control ?

Hi Tracy, I need more information if i am to try and help ! e.g. approx size and shape, what is the facia like, does it have a cage and element or does it have the new style gauze and kettle element coil ? At a guess i would say it has the old cage and element ( this is a ring covered in viterous enamel and it has slots all the way around, just behind this is a bright silver coloured element which looks like it has vertical slots.A common problem is the coating of the outer cage breaks up and this causes a dead short on the machine which either blows a fuse or even worse does not blow a fuse and tries to heat up like an electric fire!!! Without knowing the machine i could not say for sure but i think the outer cage that holds the element is at fault, but unfortunately normally when this goes to dead short it normally takes out the heat control as well. But there is a way to test this. let me know more info !!!!

Harman P68 pellet stove glass fuse blows after 1 minute.

You can do some troubleshooting by looking at the glass fuse after it has failed. If the element looks melted and there is no other discoloration, then the fuse probably blew as a result of an overload somewhere. If the fuse is burned black, then it's probably a short in the system.

You can meter the motors to see if they are shorted anywhere or open.

It sounds like you may be correct about the circuit board.

I just bought a house with an amerec sauna. The

the 'easy' answer would be a tripped high-limit switch. Inside the generator box, there is a resettable circuit breaker to the heating element, on the top of the water tank.
kill the power to the unit, take off the shell and look for the pushbutton.
If that is the problem, there is a likely chance that the temp sensor in the shower is not working so it overheats and trips the high temp limit.

Gto trimmer keeps geting hot when i use it

It's not abnormal for a trimmer to get hot while being used. If it's getting VERY hot it may be time to get a new one. Most important is to make sure you oil the blades every so often (a lite oil, like sewing machine oil is my recommendation. Oiling the blades will reduce the heat generated and provide a longer life to the trimmer.

The switch is fried, do not use! Replace switch immediately. This can cause a fire. Find a switch that will work for you at the hardware store.

What is a thermal overload switch? We had a storm and lost power in the house. The fuse did not blow but the next day the pump would not work. We changed the fuse as a precaution. I believe the thermal...

A TOC is a bi-metal strip in a canister , they are normally placed on the motor windings and in most cases are auto-resetting.

All they do is sense the temperature of the windings and when they exceed the limit of the TOC (Which is set by the motor maker) they flip the Bi-Metal strip and open circuit the supply.

Normally once the motor has cooled down the strip relaxes back to the original position and the supply is restored.

It is not a standard practice to have a push button re-set however on that will depend on the makers whims

What you may have is a Thermal Fuse which melts if the motor gets too hot and you then need to strip the unit down to both check it and if possible replace it.

By looking at the rating plate on the motor you may find the manufacturer and approach them for a data sheet

Garage door stops and reverses either way-up or down-

If the light on the opener flashes when this happens, count the flashes (which indicate the type of problem) and consult your owners manual.  If you don't have the owners manual, you can find a digital copy online at the manufacturer's website. Also, check your manual for an adjustment that tells the opener how much resistance you want it to tolerate before reversing.
