Xbox error 06

First generation xbox, I had replaced the hard drive with a samsung 605 that plays copied games now it powers up but gives me red and green lights and on the screen as it loads instead of going to the dash board where the clock should be, it says your system needs service and error 06 in the left side of the screen. :(

I know its the old one but its the one i had for a long time thought i would come here for help thanks in advance.

If it has the stock bios imma guess you locked the hard disk drive with the old hard disk key. and if you did that its going to give a error code six. error code six means the xbox cannot unlock the hard disk. either reflash your bios or install your old hdd back in, get the eeprom info, find a tool by teamassembly "cant remember what its called but it takes your eeprom and creates a custom key for that specific hard disk drive" i dont use that **** anymore tho because i have my **** flashed with a bios that isnt so anal about locked hard disk drives, but you may need to go back to the old hdd first and reflash it with a different bios instead of doing the hdd lock code ********. if u want my opinion on a good bios go for ind bios 5003. try xbins

My 360 will play movies all day long, but when I put a game in it plays for approximately 3 minutes and shuts off. The lights on the left side of the power button flash red. What is the deal?

When only 1 of the 4 green lights that are located around the start button flashes red and the screen flashes an error code number, it means that you've got the Xbox 360 1 red light message.

If you get the Xbox 360 1 red light message, it means that the problem is either with the DVD drive, or with the hard drive.

Fortunately, the Xbox 360 1 red light message is not something that you should worry about. In order to identify which of the two drives the Xbox 360 1 red light messages is referring to, just look the code number that the screen displays. DVD drive errors are identified with the codes E64, E65 and E66, whereas hard drive errors are identified with codes E67, E69 and E79.

once you have found out if its the hard drive or the dvd drive then this is the part that needs replacing.
you will either need to get someone to do it for you or if you have some idea what you are doing then it is something you can do yourself, always check to see if you have any warranty left and if you do take it back if not then you will need to pay someone to do the work for you.

if you are doing it yourself then take it from me its not easy taking the case off let alone changing the parts so if you are going to do it yourself use google and fine an xbox 360 repair guide and this will then give you step by step instructions on taking the case off and removing any parts you need to remove

When i put a game into my xbox to play it it comes up with this writing in japanese and german and sais error E 71 can you help i no it is not the red ring of death bacause it only has one red bar ???

The error code E71 with one red light flashing on the Ring of Light means that the console is having trouble accessing the memory device which is the hard drive. what you can do is to remove the hard drive and power on your console, if it starts up fine it means you need to replace the hard drive. If it does the same thing without the hard drive, well your console is having hardware failure inside and needs technical repairs, you contact Microsoft and have it fixed for free if it is in-warranty.

5 minutes playing online keep giving me error message that the disk is dirty. i know it's not i played the same cd to another xbox console it's fine. what should i do or what's the problem...

Hi chrisastig
try to save the game you are playing to the hard drive so as to play from hard drive & not from the disk ! this is assuming you have enuf room on ur hard drive to copy the game to ??
You will still need to put the game in (even when playing from hard drive) but i find if its a game you play a lot its well worth doing as it saves on the disc drive/disc spinning whilst playing :-)
saves on overall usage of the xbox too !
If its ok reading the disc for the first 5 mins of usage it should be ok to copy to the hard drive to play from.
If there is a fault with the disc itself it will tell you when you try to copy it to the hard drive & if this is the case (& its a game you like/play a lot??) then try to borrow a copy just to put on ur hard drive only & use ur damaged disc as the 'required even if playing from hard drive' notification to the xbox that you do own the original copy !
Damaged discs are usually ok for 'playing from hard drive' as the information the xbox requires is very little but enuf for it to allow you to play the game (from the hard drive)
You will find it a lot quieter whilst playing anyway ! i think so !

hope this helps :-)

please remember thumbs up :-)

p.s. refer to ur xbox user manual or drop me a mail if you have any problems doing any of the above ??

1 Red Light, error E 68

E68 is an hard drive error, turn it off and remove your hard drive, try to play a game without it, if it works, turn it off again, replace the hard drive and see how you get on, if it still will not work can you try the hard drive on another xbox, this will tell you if its a problem with the hard drive or an internal problem with the box.

My xbox 360 has one red light and an error code: E 79

That error code means that your XBOX had trouble reading a file from the hard drive. Your hard drive could be failing, or it could some of the files could have become corrupted. Try playing the XBOX without the hard drive to see if the error reappears.

Try to reconnect the Hard drive and see if it still errors. If it does, get a new hard drive.

Was given a original xbox but wont work? I dont have manual, have hit reset, the button or light flasing on front? a page come up with a 06 in left corner, and lots of different language on screen?

Hi,

error Code 05/06 is usually Hard-Drive related.
The drive has been left unlocked, or shutdown powered off while a game-save is in progress.
The xbox only boots with the Hard-drive is locked, Otherwise it will Frag ( red/Green on startup )

Red ring of death

i called microsoft, and they said that E 68 with one red flashing light means your hard drive is screwed up. Your 360 will work fine, but when u plug your hard drive in it wont work and youll get the E 68 error message. Call XBOX customer support, and they'll tell you to send it to them and they'll repair it for free. In the meanwhile, buy a memory card and keep playing. Your game saves and other stuff will be lost though. The hard drive takes 3-4 weeks to be repaired.

And no, you do not have to send the Hard drive with a reciept. When you call, they will give a reference number and you must include with the hard drive. They will explain everything when you call them.

One red light - Error: E 68 - Problem code 0110

i think i can solve this try this out

I just had this exact problem, E 68, and was about to call MS, I removed HD and let system reboot without it and it booted fine i rebooted one more time without HD for a total of two. I then tried to reinstall the harddrive and noticed that it did not want to snap in. I played with it a few min more and finally got it to snap in properly. I think it was not seated properly to begin with as it was down further on the back side than it was before i removed it. I also heard two distinct clicks as it clicked in at the rear and then at the front. Once i did that it fired back up with both my profiles and is now working again. my 360 is laying horizontally

not sure if this work but its worth a try
