When booting up, the monitor status splash shows up. Then it goes into a black screen with some small white boxes in upper left-hand corner. It takes forever to display the log-in screen, probably more...

Switch ON the PC, boot the PC in 'Safe Mode' by continuously tapping F8 button after you switch On.

Let windows boot in Safe Mode and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->System Restore

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next
Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

How do I get out of safe mode on my computer?

Reboot. Typically, safe mode indicates a memory error as recently happened to your pc. It was an enhancement in XP to keep the system from blue screening.
Sometimes when rebooting XP will take you to monochrome screen (think old timey digital) and will ask if you want to boot with SAFE MODE or not. Choose no.
If this does not resolve your problem then I'd either reload Windows or take it to a certified technician.

How to reset bois for a MSI laptop model # ms-no11

1
When you first turn your computer on, you are briefly presented with a BIOS "splash" screen. Somewhere on this screen (just where depends on the manufacturer), are instructions on how to access BIOS settings. Generally, this requires tapping a function key, say F2, while the splash screen is visible. Make note of which key the splash screen says to press to access the BIOS and restart your computer.

2
When the computer boots and the splash screen appears, tap the required function key quickly to enter the BIOS settings screen. You will only have a couple of seconds to hit the right key and if you miss it you'll have to restart the computer and try it again.

3
Once you successfully enter the BIOS settings screen, use the arrow and function keys to navigate the menus. Keep an eye out for an option that says something akin to "reset to factory defaults." If you see this, follow the on-screen instructions to reset the BIOS to the factory settings. Then, confirm your choice and exit the BIOS screen, usually by pressing escape. Congratulations, you are done.

4
If your BIOS does not have an option to return to factory settings, things are more difficult. Because the BIOS is stored in ROM, it must have a constant power supply to store any changes you make to it, otherwise it would reset every time you disconnected your laptop from AC power. Removing power to the BIOS resets it to factory settings and involves disconnecting a small battery attached to the motherboard. On many laptops, the BIOS battery is easily accessible through a door on the bottom of the unit. Unplug the computer, remove the main battery and touch something metal to ground yourself.

5
Remove any screws holding the BIOS battery door in place. Then identify the battery, (it is generally a small lithium "watch" battery), and remove it taking care not to damage any surrounding circuitry. Let the computer rest for a minute or two to discharge any remaining power, and replace the battery.

6
If your laptop does not have an easily accessible door for the BIOS battery, you may have to dive deeper and disassemble the computer to find it. Consult your laptop manufacturer's website for information on replacing or removing the BIOS battery from your model.

Thanks.
Have a great day.

Acer aspire t135 pc desktop locks at splash screen

These are the steps that you need to take, and the instructions on how to do it:
1. Reboot into Safemode
2. Run a virus and spyware scanner
3. Defrag
4. Scandisk
5. Registry error repairing
6.Reboot into regular mode windows

Here is how to do it:
Reboot yor machine while holding the F8 key right as it boots back up. A menu will apear. Choose -->"start windows in safe mode with networking".
Windows will start in safe mode. Run an AVG virus scan, then run Defrag by exploring your computer, right click on C: drive, click PROPERTIES, then the TOOLS tab, click the "check now" button, and only checkmark the top box 'fix file system errors', then click ok, the computer will then tell you it will scan upon next reboot., Now click the DEFRAG NOW button. the choose defrag. After Defrag runs for about an hour and it is finished, restart the system. If is still won't run normally, go back into Safemode buy pressing F8 on reboot, then run a registry fixing program such as uniblue registrybooster, then reboot again. If it still won't run right, you may want to reinstall Windows and see if that works. If reinstalling windows doesn't fix it, it is usually a hardware problem.
PRINT THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND KEEP A COPY NEAR YOUR SYSTEM FOR FUTURE PROBLEMS. THIS SERIES OF STEPS CAN FIX MANY PROBLEMS
Good luck.
James.

Computer loading/splash screen pixilated and distorted

if you can, hook the computer up to a different monitor and see if it does the same thing. It sounds like it is an issue with your monitor initalizing but the reboot can complicate things. Also if you have a cd that came with the computer you might want to put it in and see if you can re-install your video drivers. One last thing is to check and see if the reboot might have changed some of the settings on the monitor itself. See if you can reset to factory default or an auto adjust. It depends on the kind of monitor as to wich option you can do
