Will it boot? Fan spin? LED's blink? Sound? Try connecting to a external monitor, does it show desktop? The screen is all black, no cursor at top left? No "ghost Image" in the screen when viewed in a bright light? I would look at the inverter board, backlighting, ribbon cable in the rear of the monitor, the LCD screen, your laptop has some miles on it. Not sure about a fuse on a laptop motherboard, don't see that often. Try hooking the Laptop to an external monitor like from your desktop pc,,you can see the connection on the back of the laptop,,When you do this, and you can see Windows on the Desktop monitor,,then this would indicate that your Back light on your Laptop screen may have burnt out .
Go to device manager and uninstall the display adaptor. restart the computer. If the drivers are not installed automatically install it by downloading the latest drivers from gateway website. make sure there is no electronica device near the laptop
