I have a fairly new privately built computer that I use for FSX mostly. I found an old CD for MSTS and couldn't get it to work. I purchased a new copy of MSTS and it won't work either.
After I install it and click on any of the ways to start it, it takes about a minute and comes up with an error message saying something like "unable to continue do to software problems. Can anyone help me with this?

Re: Microsoft Train Simulator
Check that your system meets the games minimum requirement....Even if
one of your game's minimum requirement fails the game won't load...Also you may be having a hardware/software conflicting problem( common with "self made" computers).
Check your games on another computer if possible

You will need to contact the Distributor or software developer. Once they verify your purchase is legitimate they will issue you a new key, But sadly most of them will tell you you will need to purchase a new one.. Call them and plead your case. In some cases keys can be found on the internet using Google. cant tell you how as this is against the law considered piracy and is illegal.
It is most likely registering you in their database, so just fill it in, and the serial number is to make sure that you bought the product so on the product you should have the serial number (most likely on the back of the box or on the pamphlet inside)
2 choices for you. Get the external to run the game or 2. Add a larger hdd to the system as a slave drive leaving the smaller drive as the master. If you go the 2nd route just make sure you buy a compatible hdd. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer.
I would suggest that if you have a computer that you can dowload a program that will write/burn that program to a cd or make a flashdrive bootable(auto run) that you should do that and save it on a media device(bootable cd, storage device, etc) After that all you should have to do is use a computer that has true microsoft operating system go to the microsoft download website and download that official microsoft validation application save it, then install it to the cpu that you want to Install whatever microsoft program that ask for microsoft validation to install.
Ms Debie, depending on what type of desktop PC you would be buying... if you know how to remove your old hard disk and can attach to the new one then that is simpliest way of doing it. You can just make your old hard disk a slave drive then you can get any files you wanted from that hardisk then iwhtout changing anything from the old one.
