You need to set your interference eliminator code to zero, and your Qt filter to zero also. Here is a link to the owners manual: http://direct.motorola.com/ENS/T6500%20Series%20User%20Manual.pdf

What is happening is your T6500 is set to ignore radios which do not match the same code. The fact your Cobras can hear the T6500 indicates they are set with their interference eliminator turned off (aka no code).

A similar occurance will happen if the Qt filter is set to anything but zero. The Qt filter is unique to Motorola. These features are beneficial when you are in a high radio traffic area and you want to block out hearing other people. But in your situation, you are mixing radios, and the easiest way to make them match is to turn off the special features (aka set them to zero).

I do not believe you are getting into programming mode. Look at your screen, locate the small number in the upper right corner. This is the number you will need to change to zero.

To set the code for a channel:

    1. Press MENU until the code (small number in upper right) starts to flash.

    2. Press the + or - button to select the code zero "0".

    3. Press PTT to save the code setting.

You will need to set the frequency and interference eliminator code to match one another on both radios. It would be adviseable to keep any special features such as call alert and Qt filter turned off (zero) until you are confident in adding them into the mix.

Instructions can be found on pages 15-18.

Can't charge motorolla talkabout T6500 battery

Hi treva,

These little radios are are real problem when it comes to batteries.

Not only do they eat batteries, but due to requires numerous recharging, you soon burn the poor batteries out.

Motorola is a great brand, unfortunately these little radios are made in great mass under license in good old China for a cheap price, and in there lies the problem....

You only get what you pay for...

Cheap & nasty.

I have answered numerous queries regarding this very problem with these battery munchers.

Sorry that I can't give you a real solution, but if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

Best advice is to buy a good 5 watt CB radio on ebay with charger, they're reasonably priced and if something goes amiss, there are definate fixes for them.

Sorry I could not give any other solution.

Cheers,
Peter

Can the motorola t6500 talk with other two ways?

It can talk with any radio that operates on the same frequency as it. These are what are commonly reffered to as FRS (family radio service) radios. The name brand does not matter, but the frequency does.

We are an event management company... Please tell me the price of Motorola Talkabout T6500 (7 Channels) 2-Way Radio, and how can i buy it. need 10 sets (5 pairs). does it needs any license??

The TalkAbout radios are license-free and operate on FRS/GMRS frequencies intended for family use. It is possible using them in a business situation may be outside of the license-free perimeters. You would need to check further on this through a licensing company or the FCC (www.fcc.gov)

You will need to read about locking the keypad, page 20; also read about call tones and talk confirmation (roger beep) on page 25.

I have held the - sign and done this several time and the Roger beep is still sounding what next?

The T6500 is slightly different than many of the other TalkAbout radios where the + (plus) button turns the Roger Beep (aka talk confirmation tone) on or off.

T6500 will turn ON the Roger Beep when turning the radio on with the +, but to shut it OFF you must hold in the - (minus) button while turning the radio on.

Cant turn off beep on motorola T6500

You may be referring to the Talk Confirmation Tone (Roger Beep). This feature is turned off by holding the minus (-) button while turning the radio on. See page 25 in the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T65xx.pdf
