Question about Maytag Kitchen Ranges

My Maytag ceran oven does not bake evenly. Pizza is gooey in the middle - tonight I tried to bake a fergosa - italian bread. Same thing. Gooey in the middle. What's up?

    I just moved to this house, and can't find the model number on my range.  It doesn't appear on any of the brochures that the previous owner left.  The booklet says electric range models T2.

    There is a number on the inside of the door - 8113P322-60.

    Does this help?

What is the complete model number including the number at the end of the model #

Is this a range equipped with speed bake or convection?
This means that if you click the speed bake or convection bake, a small fan starts to blow in the rear of the oven and distribute the air evenly so the goods bake faster.
If so then I'll bet the fan is not spinning!
If not you may have a faulty thermostat that would need to be changed.
I'm waiting for your complete model number!

    Here is a review I found about this range if it is the one. (Below)
    Remember Maytag and Jenn air were and are the same company.
    Like Chevy,Oldsmobile and Cadillac, the same drive train except the different features and inner design and body shape they are the same car and company.
    I spoke of the fan in my earlier post to you!
    So you may want to spend one for service call or buy your own range rather than investing blindly into some else's old problem.

    Pros: Looks Beautiful
    Cons: Nothing But Problems/ Improper Venting Causes Soot

    is a beautiful machine to look at, but I have had nothing but problems
    with it. I have had three of them delivered, and I am in the process of
    returning the third.

    The first one had a problem with the oven door not properly
    closing; it was always ajar. The second one was making terribly loud,
    knocking noises when it was preheating, which the technician diagnosed
    as a fan malfunction.
    The current one is causing an acute soot problem
    in my kitchen because it does not vent properly. The Sears Senior
    Technician examined it and diagnosed the problem: This model has a
    large metal plate blocking the vent on the inside of the oven, and the
    heat cannot properly flow. This, he said, is a design flaw in the model
    itself. Consequently, the heat is causing soot and filth to fill the
    kitchen each time the oven is on.

    Three strikes - this Jenn-Air Range is gone!

    Usually if one of these are the case, you would get an error code lighting up!
    So look at the fan when you bake on convection bake and tell me if the fan in the rear of the oven is tuning. It may take a few minutes to start till the oven gets up to temperature!

    Faulty Temperature Sensor

    style ovens with an electronic range control (ERC) utilize a
    temperature sensor inside the oven to regulate heating. This sensor
    controls the cooking modes and usually the self-cleaning mode on those
    models that have the option.

    The sensor has a very specific
    internal resistance that changes along with temperature. The sensor
    goes bad when its resistance is changed through a faulty internal
    connection or internal short.

    How to Diagnose?
    can remove the sensor and check its resistance. It should read about
    1100 ohms at room temperature. If the reading is off more than about 50
    ohms, replace the sensor.

    Recent Customer Symptoms:
    oven does not reach the set temp. and fluctuates. ( set point of 400,
    temp will reach 390 and fluctuate between 350 and 390). It check out at
    16 ohms at room temp. what I need to know is what should it read at
    what temps. Thanks


    Faulty Control Board

    Ovens that utilize a
    sensor require some electronics to interpret the sensor data and to
    take appropriate action to raise or lower the temperature in the oven.
    There are several configurations of this electronics. There are some
    electronic range controls (sometimes called ERC's or clocks) that have
    the logic and relay boards combined into a single unit. Others have a
    logic board that is separate from the relay board.

    If your oven will not keep a consistent temperature and you have verified that the sensor is not faulty, then one of these control boards could be faulty. The easiest way to tell is if the electronic range control is throwing a Fault Code.

    If it is not throwing a Fault Code, then you may be able to test the
    board(s) with the aid of a diagnostic sheet. This sheet is often
    located in an envelope that is located inside the cavity of the control
    panel. These diagnostic sheets are very model specific and usually
    provide voltage and resistance meeting that can be taken across test
    points on the boards.

Heating element repair

I am not familiar with this unit but it sounds like the thermostat has failed with welded contacts. The best solution would be to replace the thermostat. Some may tell you to simply file the contacts, this is a temporary solution at best.

My Maytag convection oven has the heating elements on the top. It doesn't matter if I use convection or not, metal, nonstick, or stone pans, or lower the temperature or cooking time, it doesn't cook/bake...

Stick a thermometer inside the oven. Compare the them inside the oven to the temp you see on the control panel; are they the same?
You must do this first. You will note a disrepancy. If the oven temp and yours do not match, that you have solved the problem.
Your oven sensor or thermostat might be at fault.

My oven heats up but will not heat up enouph to cook food fully. If i bake a pizza it never gets done enouph and cakes...etc

If your electric2_bing.gif oven is not heating then you probably have a bad heating element in your oven. This is not that hard to fix yourself...

When baking bread in my Kenmore electric range (9435) the loaves on the bottom rack burn on the bottom and the ones on the higher rack take almost 2X as long to cook

In an electric range, the ideal place for baking is the middle shelf. there are temperature differences within the oven cavity. On the bottom shelf the heating elements actually "broil" the bottom of the pan. In the upper part of the oven, the temperature is lower, being blocked by the lower pans. A convection style oven is more ideal for bread baking.

My Maytag Electric Range oven part will not heat over 200* ......

Unplug the range.
Open the oven door.
Remove the racks.
Remove the 2 screws holding the bake element to the rear wall of the range.
Carefully pull the element from the access holes in the rear wall.
Remove the wires from the element.
With your meter set for continuity, put one lead on each element end.
If you get a reading it is good.

If it is good. Replace the wires and reinstall the element.

Pull the range out from the wall.
Remove the rear panels.
Plug the range back in.
Set your meter for 220volts or more.
Careful now because you are working with live voltage.
Set the oven for bake.
Put a lead on each element terminal to check voltage.
If you have 220 volts at the element, unplug the range and unplug the temperature sensor.
Set your meter for ohms.
Check the 2 leads on the temp sensor.
If at room temp the sensor is 1050 - 1100 it is OK. If not replace it.
If the temp sensor checks out OK, replace the ERC

Display Malfunction

Hello murfraven,

You said, you went to set the timer while baking a pizza and I got a "set or en" on the display of my Maytag Gemini Ceramic Top electric oven.
How old is the range?
And the model number?

Threat it like an error code.
This can reset the system.
Turn the breaker off to cut the power for 5 minutes.
Then restart the breaker and try the range.
It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.

If this does not remedy the problem, then the switch itself is bad.
Let me know how it works out.

Cannot figure out how to make oven work

Hi, try this and see if will help you. Most of the Gemini models are the same.

To set Bake:
1. Press the Bake pad.
• BAKE will flash.
• 000 will flash in the display.
2. Select the oven temperature. Press the
Autoset 0 pad for 350° F or the appropriate
number pads.
• Each additional press of the Autoset 0 pad will increase
the temperature by 25 degrees.
• The oven temperature can be set from 170° to 550°.
3. Press Bake pad again or wait four seconds.
• BAKE will stop flashing and light in the display.
