Blank pages

The following is courtesy of Brother:

To resolve blank prints, follow the steps below:

Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drum units and/or toner cartridges. Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations. Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of third party drum units, toner cartridges or toner.

To clean the laser glass follow the instructions listed below:

1. Turn off the Brother machine using the power switch located on the right side of the machine.

2. Unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet.

3. Open the front cover and remove the drum and toner assembly.

NOTE: We recommend you place the toner and drum assembly on a piece of paper in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.

4. The laser glass is located inside the machine where the drum was installed. It is a piece of glass, about 1/2 inch wide and approximately 8 inches long, located on the ceiling of the inside of the printer. Gently wipe the glass with a clean soft DRY cloth. DO NOT use isopropyl alcohol or any liquid to clean the glass.

5. Place the drum and toner assembly back into the Brother machine.

6. Close the front cover making sure it latches on both sides.

7. Plug the machine back into the power outlet and turn on the power switch.

8. Test the machine by printing the Print Settings page. Press the GO button three times. The printer will print the current printer settings.

9. If the problem continues, perform a factory reset.

a. Turn off the printer.

b. Make sure the front cover is closed.

c. Hold down the GO button as you turn on the power switch.

d. Release the GO button when the Status light turns off. The Toner, Drum, and Paper lights will be on.

e. After releasing the GO button, all the lights will turn off.

f. Press the GO button eight times.

g. The printer settings will be reset to factory default. The printer will then initialize and return to Ready status.

10. If the problem continues and your machine is within warranty, you can locate a Brother Authorized Service Center (ASC) in your area by clicking on the link below: or contact Brother Customer Service by calling 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

If your machine is out of warranty, you can locate a Brother Authorized Service Center using the information listed above.

Try this....
1: Turn off power and remove toner/drum
2: Tape the little spring loaded lever just inside the printer on the upper left hand side in the *DOWN* position! Do not replace drum yet and...
3: Turn power on to printer and let it cycle. Status/Toner lights will come on as usual.
4: Turn off printer, remove tape from lever, replace drum and turn back on.

All the lights are flashing including the blue power button light. What does it mean. I tired holding the blue power button down but that did not work. Please help.

This indicates a Service Call Error. Turn printer OFF, wait a few
seconds and then the printer ON. If the alarm continues, perform a
factory reset:
1. Turn the printer OFF.

2. Check that the front cover is closed.

3. Turn ON the power switch while holding down the GO button.

4. Check the Toner/Drum/Paper LED#s are lit.

5. Release the GO button and check that all LED#s are off.

6. Press the GO button eight times.

7. The printer settings will be reset to factory default.

8. The printer will then initialize and return to Ready status.

If the problem continues and the printer has a one year limited exchange
warranty. If the printer is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) for warranty options.

If the printer is out of warranty, contact a Brother Authorized Service

When power is turned on all lights come on solid. Printer will no

brother's site says to hold the blue 'go' button down for a few seconds and it -should- cycle through this; others have stated to hold the button down before powering up the unit.
Also see Brother's site re: document too large to print/ over-run buffer issues.
or , others just unplug it for anywhere from 15 minutes to a couple of days..
