The problem is the coax cable, just replace it to get rid of the interferences. Buy a shielded coax cable, it will get rid of the interferences.

Try playing your DVD or CD player and the picture quality.

if the DVD plays fine then the issue seem to be with the incoming signal
    else
there could be issue with the tuner card inside the TV. to check that a expert need to check it physically.

If no box, then directly to the coax connector on the rear of the set, if using a box set to the channel the box is set for (usually 3 or 4) and output coax from box the coax fitting on rear of set.

Leave set on three and power box and change channels with the box.

Possibly the XY boards are bad. Usually causing one other board to go bad. I hate to say this, but time to move up to LCD. Will be cheaper to replace

Cable Tv Interference

Sounds like the cable signal getting to that TV is just not strong enough.  This could be due to the number of connection and splitters leading to it.  Set it up with a coaxial cable that connects as close to the incoming cable as possible and not split it along the way.

Check the connections on the flat cables to the screen. Be sure first to disconnect the power supply from the x and y sustain boards before you disconnect any of the flat cables.you will burn the cables from the stored energy in the power supply, also check cables on c boards at bottom of screen. If this does not fix probably bad panel.

Cant get dtv on my toshiba regza

Does it work with a DVD or VCR?
How is it connected? With a Coax cable or a an RCA component cable? Check that the correct video source is selected (The one associated with the input you are connected with) or that you are tuned to the correct channel on the TV if you are using the coaxial cable to connect. Could be channel 3 or 4 but I have seen them set for channels like 73.

as far as it turning off on its own I would get a fan on it and see if that make a difference make sure that the fan is able to flow around the tv especially through the back of it, if this stops it from turning off then it is an overheating problem
