That depends on the camera. Some cameras don't have a black&white mode. On some it's under shooting options. On others it's in the picture controls.

All in all, you're better off shooting in color and converting in software.

Black and white

Change the color mode to "Black & White". See this page of the user guide.

You might want to consider taking color photos and waiting to convert to black & white until you get them on a computer. Converting on a computer gives you much more control over factors such as contrast and luminescence.

How can i get to black and white mode, and take the time stamp off

The S6100 doesn't have a black-and-white mode as such. You could use the black-and-white copy mode, which is designed to copy whiteboards or print on paper ("Black and white copy", page 70). In addition, you can convert pictures to black-and-white using filter effects in the playback menu ("Filter Effects", page 122).

To turn off the time stamp, tap the bottom tab, tap the wrench icon, then tap "Date". Select "Off" ("Print Date", page 157).

The page numbers are in my copy of the manual. If you need a manual, you can download one from

I have lost the instructions and have forgotten how to change the mode to get black and white pictures.

Hi katiedooley2,

You would most probably find this setting in the picture settings option of your camera , where you have the option to choose the color type it has normal mode with natural colors or cyan mode , along with gray scale or black and white mode.

You can use activate this option and you would have your pictures being taken in grayscale or black and white.

How do i change the picture on my camera from coloured to black and white ?

You can select the color mode to Black and white to shoot images in black and white. If you have already captured the images in color, you can use a software in computer to change the color mode to black and white.

Thanks for understanding.

Please let me know if you require any clarifications.

Picture on scree is black and white. How do i get colour

Your camera's Colour has been set to "Black and White". Select the camera icon on the power selector, and 'auto' on the mode selector. Press the menu button, and use left and right to find the "Finepix Color" setting. Use the up and down to select "Standard" instead of "Black and White".

Sony DSC T77 How to Setup Black and white mode

Hi Allonsoma,

What the manual doesn't tell you is that you need to change the REC mode first to be able to fint the buttons in MENU.

Fist go into the REC mode (the one above menu when taking a photo). Change this to PGM and click OK. Now go into MENU, on the 3/4 page second button down should be a box with a + in the corner. This is the colour mode option. You can now change to vivid, sepia or black and white.

Hope this helps.

Hey marafioti14,
What you need to do is select shooting mode and then under that you need to select program mode, and under program menu you need to select the color mode which should allow you to set the camera to take black and white photographs. This being said I would suggest instead of shooting the images in black and white it would be better to convert them to black and white using computer software. It is likely that the software that came with the camera allows you to convert any image to black and white. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
