It will not play games or discs. and will not turn off when i press the green light it beeps 3 times. what do i do?

The laser in the dvd drive is bad if its not reading anything. Also the power supply might be starting to short out the system if you can't get it to turn off by normal means.

If your system is still under warranty then contact Sony or return it to the store you got it from. If not then getting another system would be cheaper then replacing the parts.

Ps3 slim overheating - unit was running for about 5hours playing a ps3 game then the power indicator blinked red and then shut down. I'm unsure why it did this because i don't have my console in a cabinet...

This can be caused by dust buildup in the console, causing the unit to overheat. Once the unit overheats this causes the unit to melt solder on the board making a bridged connection. This makes the board short out giving you the error you have now. I would contact sony to see if your unit is still under warranty. If your unit is not under warranty, go to We are a console repair company based in Texas, and can fix your console. We give a free diagnosis of what is wrong with your unit, and call with an estimate of repairs before any work is done on the unit. All work is covered by a 30 day warranty, and you can buy up to 4 years worth of warranty.

Red light but no green

This is known as the yellow light of death for the ps3. This can be caused by dust buildup in the console, and the console overheating. Once the console overheats, it causes the solder on the board to melt. Once melted it bridges(connect), and shorts out the board causing the error your getting now. If you have had the unit for 3 years the warranty is probably out, but go ahead and contact sony with this site:

If the unit is indeed out of warranty, go to We are a console repair company based in Texas, and we can fix your console. We give a free diagnosis of what is wrong with your unit(excluding shipping), and will call with an estimate of repair. All our work comes with a 30 day warranty, and you can buy extended warranty for up to 4 years.

Ps3 beeps once, shows green light then quickly shuts down. This issue has just occured after I asked my grandfolks take my ps3 to our holiday house. I deliberately told them to make sure it was secured and...

OK this happened to me too. However mine was doing an update for Haze. My Ps3 did did the same thing then shut off, and kept doing what yours is doing. Here is what you try. (1) Try a different power cord, (2) a Different outlet . If those do not work, i Really hope you still have your warranty. After waiting few days i contacted Sony Support and told me there was nothing else that can be done, i was no longer in warranty and had to fork over 150 bucks. What i believe it was is either Power Supply Fried the mother board, or it some how over heated, which for me was less plausible since A it was in a very cold room, plenty of ventilation. Long story short they had to send me a New PS3, and i lost all my stuff, well my saved Data, all other stuff is brought back once you sign on to PSN.

Hope that helps! Good luck!!

Wii will not receive power

This has happened to me, what you need to do is remove the power cord from both the wii and wall outlet, and wait a few minutes while the converter box on the cord resets itself. I know it sounds strange, but it works.

If it's a regular xbox,it's way past warranty.
The insides of the DVD reader need to be cleaned.
Lens : pure alcohol on a cotton swab and chrome rails with a swab then a coating of silicone.
Dust out the thing too.

Won't honor warranty

Unfortunately, Microsoft has the final say on warranty issues. Speaking as someone who presently works at the customer service desk at one of the major retailers, it's not surprising that the store staff couldn't help you.

It's possible that the unit you have was sold once to someone else, then returned to the store and re-sold to you. If that's the case, Microsoft will say the warranty started the day it was sold the first time (even if the first owner never opened the box), since they get information from the retailer when they scan the serial number on the box at the time of sale. Also, I'm afraid it doesn't matter when the defect occured--what matters is when you call them; so screenshots etc. won't be a help in this case.

Try calling Microsoft again, but ask for a supervisor. Be polite, but insistent. Saying, "I know that your system says my warranty is expired, but I'd like to speak with your supervisor about that," might work. If they try a line like "but my manager will say the same thing," then respond with "I'm sure that might be true, but I'd still like to have him or her say it directly to me." Try to convince them to allow you to fax them a copy of the receipt with the accurate purchase date. If you can convince them that they're wrong, they'll probably make an exception to allow you to return it even though it's now well into December.
