Check the toner in your printer, It is either low or uneven in the cartridge. Remove the cartridge and gently rock it back and forward. Replace it and check toner levels. You can print a page with this on it fron the menu on the front of the printer.

How do i remove the ink cartridge ?

Turn on the unit, then open the print-carriage access door by lifting

the handle until the door locks into place.

The print carriage moves to the center of the unit.

You may want to use a photo print cartridge for

superior print quality when printing photos. With the

color and photo print cartridges installed, you have

a six-ink system. See how to print the best quality

photos on page 22 for more information.

2 After the carriage stops moving, lift the latch to release the print

cartridge, then pull it toward you out of its slot.

3 If you are removing the black print cartridge in order to install the

photo print cartridge, store it in the print cartridge protector.

4 Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and, being careful

to touch only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape.

Caution! Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles.

5 Push the new print cartridge into the appropriate slot until it clicks into

place.
The tri-color print cartridge goes on the left and the black or photo
print cartridge goes on the right.

A faint line shows up down the middle of the page, when printing a photo

from cnet review of the product

  • Unfortunately, as with the Z1420, fast print speeds come at the cost of print quality with the Z1300. Black text prints, though nicely dark, were beset by obvious jaggedness. The color graphics print had a slightly faded look to it and color blocks showed graininess and faint horizontal striations. Barcode-style patterns were muddled, too. For our tests, we printed color 4x6 photos with the standard black and tricolor cartridges, as Lexmark did not include photo ink tanks with the test unit. The colors were dull, details were hazy, and again, the entire print was marred by graininess and faint horizontal lines. That said, nobody buys a $25 printer to print photos for framing or to create displays for a classroom science project. A $25 printer is a convenience item for occasional reference prints, and as such, the Z1300 does its job.

PHOTO APPEARANCE

Check your printer settings, If your printer is set on draft mode the prints may appear faded washed out, turn up the quality of the printing and this should solve the problem.

Old Polaroid photos

Having photographic quality copy prints made will give you far longer life than the original Polaroid. Polaroid colour dyes will shift colours and eventually fade dramatically. New photographic (and some ink jet) prints will last generations without noticeable fading.

Hp problem

Please make photo copy using the front panel copy button if that works then the issue is with the software and if that does not work issue with the hardware. Click Start - All programs - HP - Hp Director/Solution center. Click Settings - Print settings - printer settings. Click on the Colors tab. Enable the option. In color management select "Managed By application". Click Ok. Also set the print quality to Best from Paper Quality tab. If the issue persists get back with detail description.
