Is this when downloading from a site, peer to peer, or with a torrent? Do you have normal internet access? Can you load any streaming information (youtube)?

Internet connection is slow or does not connect

Update your drivers and empty your cookies and temp folders by deleting the cookies and temp files. If that doesn't help you'll need to check your cable connections and cable for damage and settings in your router. Your network card should be a 10/100 capable card. Your router maybe sending at 10 mb per second instead of 100 mb per sec which would be a marked and visible decrease in speed compared to the wireless which uses an 802.11 protocol at 108 mb per sec.

How do I improve my broadband connection or download speed (aka Access Line...

The Access Line or Connection (download) speed is the speed of your Broadband connection between the local telephone exchange and the wireless router. This is the speed that Broadband is able to provide into your home rather than the actual speeds that you experience when using the internet. This download speed is typically twice the speed of your available upload speed.

Be careful all the major ISP's will test your line and come back to you will a max speed of about 3MB (3072 kbps OR 384 kB/sec) and sell you the product on this basis I have never got anywhere near this tested value. If you divide the tested value by 1/3 this would be a more reasonable speed.

For example if your ISP is able to provide you with a 1MB connection your maximum download speed will be 1024 kbps, in reality you will never reach this due to exchange limitations a connection (download) speed of 900 kbps (0.8MB OR 112 Kb/sec) would be more realistic and 350 kbps (0.35MB OR 44 kB/sec ) for uploading.

If you browse outside the peak period your speed will increase. However It will reduce significantly during the peak period from 5pm to 12am. If you want to download large programs or files, try doing this overnight or at a different time of the day.

Clearing your cache won't make you browse faster it is a collection of files which record your activity on the internet. These files are usually stored in your computer's Temporary Internet Files folder.
They can make browsing the web faster, as loading a page you've visited before is quicker if your computer has kept a record of images and other components within the web page. Clearing these files away can free up space on your hard drive and resolve certain problems you may experience while browsing like slow browser speeds !!

Tweaking your TCPIP can help here is a reg tweak that will optimize your registry WRT your TCP parameters; internet caching and simultaneous downloads.

Test your actual connection OR download speed here and e-mail it to yourself you can also set it to create a graph of your download times it will also show you a comparison of you and a typical value from your actual service provider, you will never get any where near this I use Sky Mid at the moment and I max out at on a 1MB line about 900kbps (112kB/sec) they say sky should offer you 2827kbps (354 kB/sec) which would be 80% of a 3MB line.

Smart test based on your connection speed =>
http://testmy.net/dl-96

If you start the automatic test and leave your PC on for 24 hours you will see at what time your connection will max out, the results are stored if you become a regsitered user, this link will test upload and donwload ( this is your line speed) in kbps (kilobits per second)

http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/scheduled_test.php?r_time=1

when finished to you can download the results to a csv (comma separated value) and import into Excel to see a pretty graph if you like.!!!!

N.B.> Make sure you close down VoiPs and Torrents and anything else that will sap you download speed before you do this test also I recommend rebooting your router to gain the optimum results

NetGear wireless router WGR614 v6 runs with speed 1 0 mbps instead of 54 mbps

how far away are you from your wireless router when your getting 10 mbps?
Please note that wireless will not guarantee speeds of 54 mbps.
It will dramatically decrease the farther away you or how much interference there is between your laptop and router.
Also check if your wireless router is set to 802.11 G mode. if you have any devices that only support 802.11B you will only get speeds up to 11mbps compared to G at 54mbps

Tell me , what type software use to increase downloading speed up to 200 k b/sec . connection speed 921 k b/sec

Hi,

With 921 kb/sec(which means kilobits per second) connection, the maximum download speed you would get is 921/8 = 115 kilobyte per second (kB/sec). Even to attain this much speed, you will have to use some download accelerators like Free download manager. You can download that and use it for free at http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download.htm

How to use cruise control

Here are the steps in using cruise control:

  1. Get on a road you will be traveling at the same speed for a long period of time, such as a freeway.
  2. Reach your desired speed. Choose a speed that allows you to move with the flow of traffic and not go over or under the designated speed limit for that road.
  3. Locate the ON and SET buttons on your steering wheel. Press ON first and SET after. Your cruise control is now activated. Most vehicles must be traveling at least 30 miles per hour to set the cruise control.
  4. Press and hold the SET button if you wish to use cruise control at a higher speed. Hold until your desired speed is reached.
  5. Decrease speed by pressing the COAST button.
  6. Push the brake pedal to disengage the cruise control function. If you wish to return to the previous set speed, use the RES (resume) button. You must be traveling at least 30 miles per hour for this function to resume.
  7. Erase any previous speed by pressing the OFF button.

Slow downloading speed

Make sure that your port is open on your router to allow the connections. This setting is under the options in the software. You can follow this from the site to walk you through:

http://www.utorrent.com/documentation/connection-setup

That will allow you to connect to more peers. Also, make sure you have more seeders in the swarm. Good luck!

My ipod connects to the NetGear RangeMax WPN824 , but after a while it refuses to load internet pages and download music. for example, I was download a podcast yesterday and the download speed was fast....

It could only be an interference problem. To resolve it, you need to change the wireless channel of your router. Access the router's setup page through http://192.168.2.1, look for wireless tab. Change the channel to 11 then save the settings.

Download's speed

Speakeasy — Speed Test Test your internet connection speed!go to:

Speed Test — About Broadband Speed Here's some information to help you understand your results. There are a lot of things that factor into your speed test results. Download and upload speeds, backbones, networks, latency, ping times, and DNS servers.
Download
Download is a measure of how fast your connection delivers content to your computer or local area network.
Upload
Upload is the measure of how fast content is delivered from your computer or local area network to others on the Internet.
To achieve optimal delivery of T1 or SDSL services, download and upload speed should match or at least be very close. This is very important for applications like VoIP, email, on-line gaming and other interactive programs. Upload speed is even more important if you are operating an email, web or file server at your location.
Kbps
Kbps transfer rate = kilobit per second transfer rate. There are 8 bits in a byte, so we would divide kbps by 8 to get KB/sec transfer rate.
