Photo printing errors

This is not the fault of printer. Choose those type of photo paper, whose thickness is equal to executive bond paper. This type of printer do not catch the thick photo quality paper

Throw this thing out as it is clearly rubbish. HP inkjet printers will **** the life and money out of you. Get a Brother HL-2170W and you will have care free printing for cheap.

Cheers old chap.

Paper jams with photo paper only hp1610 all in one. will print photo on regular paper any size.machine also makes a "grinding rotating" noise

Hi there,

Paper can jam inside the printer for a number of reasons.
  • Open the cover to the printer and look inside to see if there are any pieces of paper or debris that may be blocking the print path.
  • Be sure to unplug the printer before touching anything internal to avoid electric shock. If there is something blocking the print path, remove it, close the printer, and try printing again.
  • You can also check inside the printer to see if any components have come loose.

Paper Jam HP 1350 All-In-One

The back of the HP psc 1350 DOES open! I got a 4x6 photo paper stuck too. After finding no help in the HP software manual, I accidently noticed that if you look closely at the back that grey area that looks like it should come off does! If you look closely you will see an arrow to the left of the gray panel. You can push right and pull toward you at the same time and the panel comes off where you can easily take out the stuck photo paper.

Paper jam

It's pretty rare to not be able to manually clear a paper jam. Occasionally, after you clear a jam, some paper gets stuck in the mechanism where your fingers can't reach. In that case, part of the printer mechanism needs to be taken apart to get to the jam. Like I said, it's pretty rare, but when it happens, your only option is to take the printer to a certified printer repair shop or back to the place where you bought it to get it worked on. Unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't recommend using tools inside the printer yourself. You run the risk of damaging the mechanism and making your current problem worse.

The HP web site does publish a couple of solutions. Have a look at the information on the following two links and see if there's anything you may not have tried yet:

Clearing a Paper Jam

Clearing a Carriage Jam

Post back whether or not either of these links worked out for you. Good luck.

Paper Jam

  1. Press the On button and then unplug the power cord.
  2. Press in the tab on the rear door to release the door. Remove the door by pulling it away from the unit.
  3. Gently pull the paper out of the rollers. CAUTION: If the paper tears when you are removing it from the rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might be remaining inside the device. If you do not remove all of the pieces of paper from the unit, more paper jams are likely to occur.
  4. Replace the rear door. Gently push the door forward until it snaps into place.
  5. Plug the power cord in and then press the On button to turn the unit on.
  6. Press OK to continue the current job.

Paper jams

Had this problem, too with HP PSC 1610 AIO, paper would pull in part way and stop, then display would indicate: Paper Jam, Clear Jam and Press OK, but there was no paper in the path at all. Found in HP forums that possibly the problem was a broken off piece that may be called the "x-bias" lever which is on a little spring inside the printer just to the left of the carriage bay on the right side of the device. There are two photos of "broken" and "not broken" at this forum site:

Since HP does not sell the little part to repair it, I phoned HP and got a good "trade-in, trade-up" price for a better device. Hope this helps someone else find the answer to the constant paper jam issue, as I always appreciate the FixYa forum help from everyone else here, too.
