Question about Pinnacle PCTV 110i (210100458) Video Capture

TV Tuner Hi I recently purchased a Dell XPS M1530 laptop computer. I want to be able to play and record HD TV from my DVR on my computer. What hardware do I need to get this done? My computer has an HDMI female port. I was at Best Buy yesterday and a dude from the geek squad said that I didn't need any hardware. "Just plug the HDMI from the output of the cable box to the input of my computer." he said. I didn't think this would work but I tried it anyway but no results. What is the cheaspest way to achieve what I want? Thanks Josh

If you have an HDMI input from your computer you can do it.  You probably have HDMI output on your computer which is why it isn't working.
Pinnacle makes an HDTV TV tuner that will work on your computer that installs onto a USB port.  It's available at Best Buy as well.
The other way to do it is to get a series 3 Tivo with a Wireless adapter and install the Tivo media software onto your computer.  The server software will take the shows off of your Tivo and download them to your notebook computer.

I have the vc500 hooked up and the software installed. I can see the video on the computer screen but when I press record, the computer video looks like it is scrambled. How do I correct this?

Just a wild pitch here; is the video fine after its been recorded or does that play scrambled as well? Make sure your equipment is tightly plugged in. Other than that, all I can say is maybe your dvr is obsolete or your computer is too slow.

Hi - My question is basic - If I have a NTSC DVR can I use an external PAL tuner to enable me to receive and record NTSC and PAL signals?

There should be an output option that you change to NTSC (on your external tuner), Dvr's are pretty "proprietary", and are very sticky about accepting non-proprietary signals. For instance, a sattelite dish dvr, will not accept these inputs, nor will their hard drives re-format or zero out.

Play & Record VHS through TV Tuner Card

You need to connect the ariel to the vcr, then the vcr to the card, using a male/female fly lead. Then I suggest putting an origional film tape into the vcr, press play on the vcr and then scan in the channels on the card. It should pick up the vcr's output of the film that is playing.

Diamond Multimedia ( VC500) Video Capture After I installed the program files from the disc and set up all the three cables for the audio and video, everything is hooked on right and tight but once I plug...

I was having this problem also. I originally plugged my 3 video cables into the VCR outlets in the front of the vcr. I finally turned the vcr around and found two other sets of video out plugs. One was to a dvd/dvr and the other was a vcr out. I took the plugs from the front of the vcr and plugged it into the dvd/dvr out and it worked! Good luck with your problem. Hope the resolution is just as simple.

How can I record from VHS to Computer with Sabrent TV Tuner?

Did you install the driver for the remote control?
In either case, the video will automatically start playing on your computer but not recording. You can just click on the record icon without using the remote.
It sets up a folder under your Documents. It should then show you the icon so you can name the file.

I am having the same issue with the sound though. Haven't yet solved it. Will post the solution if found

WinTV-HVR-1600 Tuner card to DishNetwork receiver

Yes, but what it can connect to depends on what Dish DVR you have. The newer, HD ones only have HDMI, S-Video, and that 5-split coax as outputs for the main TV since you only get these box's if you have and HDTV.

This is because regular old coaxial is no longer good enough for them. This means you must connect the newer DVR's to the S-Video input on the Hauppauge1600 since it is the only input to the card the Dish DVR supports.

If your DVR is older and has the coax out, you can use that and connect it to the Hauppauge analog input.

Sound not recorded

You need an 1/8" male jack plug (both ends) cable. One end plugs to audio out on TV card, the other end plugs to audio in on the sound card. Or is it the other way around. Anyway, thats what you need. I think Radio Shack sells them maybe BestBuy or Circuit City.
