Question about Antec SP450 450W SmartPower ATX 2.0 20/24 Pin ATX Connector Power Supply (SP450) (PS450ANSP450) Power Supply

1 Answer

No Power Hi all, I have the SP 450 running on a machine I built about two years ago. I have experienced no problems since then...until yesterday. I hit the power switch and nothing happens. I checked all connections to ensure they were intact and found all to be intact. Are there any known issues with this PSU? Should I need another power supply, what are some good power supplies out there currently? I have a working knowledge of computers and can do stuff as long as it is explained well. Thanks for the help in advance! Press the start button nothing happens, no fans start. The ASUS Motherboard's LED SB_Power is lit so part of the Powersupply is working. Bill

Hi...ihave antec sp-450 smart power and it have 2 fans.only one is working when i pluged it ...is it a problam or the ather fan starts to work later????

If the fan that is working is the outside fan on the power supply and if your case is well ventillated there wont be a problem. If not then buy a new power supply.

You need a power supply! Go to Amazon and search for one that is the same specs as yours. Fairly easy to replace, don't use your old one anymore, it could be dangerous.

Hi I try to troubleshoot the ASTEC 450W power supply. I don't know how to power up. Anyone can help me with this problem. Thanks. My email is trinhluu62@yahoo.com

DO NOT troubleshoot a power supply unless you are professionally trained. Power supplies contain a lethal charge even when disconnected from a power source and should never be opened or tampered with. If you are having a problem with building/upgrading a PC and are using this power supply, then please post further details on your problem here and maybe we can help.

SCHEMATIK DIAGRAM FOR POWER SUPPLI

I would also have liked to have had a schematic diagram for my ECHOSTAR 450w ATX power supply.

Not having one though, I have replaced two capacitors (one with a bulging top) and another with a leaking top, three rectifiers (two shorted and the third had a cracked case), and have ordered transistor Q1 (also shorted). Will also need to repair trace damage on the bottom of the circuit board. Other components check out OK so I hope it will be working again after the transistor arrives Monday. I need the -5v this one supplies to get my old computer running so I can retrieve last year's tax info.

That sounds like you may have dislodged something inside the PSU which is now shorting out some contatcs. Be very carefull as you are dealing with mains electricity here. You could take t to a qualified Electricion to take a alook, but it is probably damaged now. I would replace it before doing any damage to Motherboard etc. -Not an expensive part.

An ATX power supply should work. 450 watt should be fine unless you are running high end graphic cards.

No Power

Hi, remove your power supply from the case, onen it and remove all dust from it. Inside you should see a glass fuse, if tis is blown replace it and all should be ok.
If the fuse is intact test it with a multi meter, [this can also be done across a light and wires with a battery] If you find the fuse intact and still have no power then replace the PSU with any simalar watt unit. The only brand I would advise against is Ritmo as these are not a high quality PSU. There are quite a range of brand names which can be purchased on Ebay.

Antec sp-500 power up?

Hi oldgunny, I think you would be better to shoot it befor opening it. The only serviceable part inside is a fuse and if this was blown then it would not start at all, so regretable as it may be you will need to replace it.
