Oven burner and pilot start-up shut doen prematurely. Never get to temparature

Everythign else on the range works.  The eletronic lighter heats up and glows.  Gas strats going.  Lights up. Starts heatly. However, is shuts down and star up but never gets to temparature.

The broiler works.  Use it lately to heat the oven up.  Then switch to the bake/lower heating section.  Will not hold temparature.

SOURCE: Oven will not heat up.

eerb, most likley your ignitor failed. When you turn the oven on to bake you should hear a relay click on the electronic control (clock). You can do a couple of things here. If you have a ohmmeter the ignitor should ohm out at between 50 and 150 ohms. You can physically swap out the bake and broil ignitors to see if the ignitor comes on in bake. Or you can swap the bake and broil wires on the board. They should be marked BA and BR. This way when you turn on bake, the broil ignitor should glow and verify you have power going to it. Carefull when testing, be sure to kill power to the range before any changes. Catriver...post back

SOURCE: GE Spectra XL 44 Gas Oven Bottom Heating Element Faulty

First look to see if the ignitor is coming on. Most common problem is the ignitor is weak or just bad. When the power is applied to the ignitor it glows and builds up resistance to open the gas valve then it lights. If the ignitor is weak or bad it will not build up enough resistance for gas to come into the burner. One sign of this would be a "woosh" sound when it trys to light. If the ignitor is coming on but not lighting it is most likely the ignitor is bad. Should have a full glow. Also, if the ignitor looks whiteish in color this is a sign of it going bad. You can compare to the broil ignitor to be sure. If the ignitor doesn't come on at all will need to see if you have power to the ignitor. Let me know what you find and let's solve it before you rate the solution.

SOURCE: broiler works, oven settings - no flame, no heat.

Hi, it sounds like the oven ignitor might be bad. Remove the floor panel inside the oven and you will see the ignitor attached to the burner assembly. Turn the oven on and see if it glows. You can test the connection for the ignitor and see if it gets 120V to it. The most common problem with the gas oven is the ignitor. Most of the time, the ignitor glows but is not strong enough to open the gas valve.
Please let me know if this was helpfull or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

SOURCE: GE Gas Range Over Won't Heat

Hello, Yes this is going to be the bake igniter. If you remove the lower panel in the oven you will see the bake igniter. It may still be working when you switch on the oven but it is not getting up to the correct temp in order to ignite the gas. Replace the igniter and you will be all set. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment. Good Luck! Mike

SOURCE: GE Profile Gas Range, oven doesn't heat up on any

Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. Should be 3 - 3.6A. If less than 3A - replace ignitor. If the ignitor does not come on - check the voltage on the ignitor, should be the line voltage 110-120v AC. If there is a line voltage on the ignitor and it's not coming on - replace.

Part numbers, the first one being the direct replacement: WB13T10045, 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108.
Those ignitors are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires, if not comfortable splicing wires - order the first one in the list above.

Good luck!

Manual

When the range top burners and the oven are both not lighting, I recommend you check if the manual shut-off valve to the range has been turned off. With most of my gas ranges, you have to remove the drawer to reach the shut-off valve. (so If you have propane, make sure that your tank isn't low.

Make sure that your home is well ventilated; open the windows and check the range in a while. I live in an area where we had to add a whole house ventilator. We had days where the house would seem stuffy and none of the burners would light. (Appliances with pilot lights went out.) This was due to excess carbon dioxide shifting from nearby coal and natural gas deposits.

It is possible for the igniters to fail if there is power to the range, but usually not the oven, the broiler and all of the top burners at once. You can test the top burners carefully with a long handled butane lighter or a long match. Turn on the hood fan and set a burner to the Lite position. Carefully, light the lighter near the burner or bring the lit match to the burner. If the gas is flowing properly and there is sufficient oxygen, it should light. Then remove the lighter or match and put it out. Then adjust the burner temperature.
The manual for the ARGS7650SS is available from Amana. The direct link is here: http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/31810401.PDF . Many newer Amana product manuals are available here: http://shop.amana.com/product_literature/search.jsp .

I hope this helps.

(note: you should also make sure that the regulator cap is correctly set for your type of gas (LP or NG). The gas flow rates are different enough to make the regulator fail. Most ranges are shipped for with the cap set for NG. Turn off the gas and unplug the electrical cord before working on the regulator cap. The burner orifices need to be changed as well as some other adjustments to convert from NG to LP. See pages 9-11 of the manual for details.)

The pilot light on the oven is on how ever the burner will not come on when the oven is turned up.

Hello,
Their is 2 possible things that are causing the oven to not heat.

1) the pilot burner is clogged with build up and not burning corretly...the standing pitol light is small and when the oven is turned on the pilot enlarges and heats a small bulb connected to a tube on a gas valve,if the pilot burner is clogged it will burn the small pilot but will not enlarge to heat that bulb so the gas will flow to the main burner. If that is whats happening the pilot burner needs to be replaced.

2) the pilot burner is properly heating the bulb connected to the above mentioned gas valve but that gas valve is bad and not opening once the pilot has heated the bulb..so in that case that gas valve would need to be replaced

The top burners light but the oven won't light at all. The stove is 19 years old. I tried turning the oven on and using a lighter thinking the pilot went out but it won't light.

Your oven has a pilot safety. This keeps gas from being sent to the burner(s) if the pilot is not lit. It has gone bad, they all do sooner ar later. You need to get it replaced.

more then likely you have a bad ignitor( although its glowing, its not powerfull enough to ignite the gas. bery common issue with all gas ranges. easy enough repair, depending on model the ignitor is only held on by perhaps 2 screws anda coulple of wire nuts, parts problably 50-90 dollars

The oven pilot does not light. The broiler will not work. The only thing that does is the light. GE XL44 range. The burners light and the pilots stay lit.

If you have standing pilots, make sure the pilot for the oven/broiler is lit as well.  When you turn the thermostat up to call for heat, you should see the pilot get larger. That larger pilot flame heats a hydraulic sensor and opens the main burner valve.

    hi,

it sounds like the oven safety valve is bad, it will reach a point when the pilot will make enough energy to keep itself lit, but not enough to open the gas valve to light. it will need to be replaced. if you are handy you can do this, but make sure you shut off the gas to the range first. you should be able to find a replacement online, if not check with a local LP gas company that sells parts to the public.

60" double oven gas Garland stove

We use a Garland from the 1960's and pilot lights ARE scary and should make you nervous. This is why they are no longer allowed in new gas ranges. I mounted an inline gas shut off to the stove where the gas enters (on mine this is right in front on the left side). It turns on and off like a burner and when we are done cooking we simply shut off the gas there. To light the burners or the stove I use one of those long reach lighters. I go to bed knowing that NO gas is coming in.
We love the stove, it makes cooking more fun.
    Good Luck!

    GE GAS RANGE OVEN PROBLEM

two options.first does the pilot flame look good (a nice blue flame)?if so you will see a metal probe next to the pilot, use some sandpaper and clean that probe up.if that solves your problem so be it.second if the first thing doesnt work its probably the ignitor board not sensing the flame.the way to definitly tell the one or the other use a small torch and heat up the probe like i said and turn the oven on.if the main burner comes on then you know its the probe which is called a thermocouple and is cheap.hope this helps.
