Question about Sony Handycam DCR-DVD403 DVD Camcorder

1 Answer

We think our disks are formatted wrong some how...

We have Sony Handycam DCR-DVD308. So we formatted the disk using the camcorder, and started filming. We came back to download the video to the computer, and it says, "Cannot import because this disk is not supported." in the Picture Motion Browser that cam with the cam. We tried with a few different disks, and they all said the same thing. It registers that there is data on the disk, we just can't access it. The other thing is, we don't remember how we formatted the disks.

Your video is merely the wrong format for the computer. Copy the video files to your hard drive, then use video editing software to save them in a different format.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Does your camera having a docking station? If so, press the "burn to disc" button on the docking station, while the USB is connecting camera to computer.

SOURCE: SONY HANDYCAM DCR-35E

I had the same problem. When I purchased my HDR-SR11 camera some four years ago, I was running XP and the PMB Disc Burning worked well. When I changed over to Windows 7 I kept bombing out like a lot of other users. The problem was that I was using an old version of PMB (3.0.00). I went to the Sony web site and downloaded the latest version of PMB with an upgrade (0810a.exe) This fixed my problem and the Disc Burn function workes perfectly now.

Hi,

Just go your video list then select the video(s) you wish to delete ( see the option > delete). Otherwise you can format your handycam hard disk.

(Note : Never format your handycam hrd disk using your computer ( just delete and format your memory using touch screen on your handycam))

Sony Handycam DVD 650 - After recording on a disk and the disk is full, it went to a screen that is locked. It says "Formatting Start" and only offers formatting issues. I do not want to format as it...

Dear Sir,
Yes you are right, lots and lots have lost very nice recordings on these silly CD and Hard-Drive cameras, and with so many people having problems I hope Sony go back to the 8mm takes because some recordings we all like to make mean too much for us to just re-format over them.
While your CD is in your camera press the reset button, that puts menu back and camera like new, your disk will pop out okay that way.
I do think though that you should try to pick up a good Sony 8mm camera for those important movies, that way you know you always will have them.

Handycam DCR-DVD108 DVD Camcorder: if I get a request to format disc upon re-insertio...

Well this was mostly the main reason the pro film makes like myself decided never to go towards DVD (disk) movie cameras and always stay with tapes like the digital 8 sort.
With disk cameras you are never ever going to be sure you are catching anything, as the disk will spin happy in the camera, but as 1000's have already found your disk will be bland if you put the disk back in the camera next time.
Did you format your disk at start of first use? sore are pre-formated, lots are not and wont record unless they are.
Good luck my friend hope you get it sorted out ok?

If the procedure fails, the disk may be corrupt but you might try formatting the disk on your pc.

Hope this helps. Please rate reply if it does thanks.

DCR-DVD308 Camcorder problem

There sas a tiny screw probably from the manufacturers that was sitting on the DVD mechanism witch prevented the DVD to sit properly. So I removed the loose screw. Now works wonderfully.
I checked everything on the camera and doesn't have any screws missing. Thanks. Grace
