Curious if anyone could tell me how to put the module(galaxy 5000 5000rs) into relearn of crank signal input. removed remote from pontiac grand prix 6 cyl. now in 96 suburban 8 cylinder. remote starts but tuns for few seconds and then shuts down. apparently due to tach input pulses different between engines. Any help?

The module on this truck year is called a "GEM", BCM comes later. The GEM is located behind the radio assembly and is bolted to the IP support bracket, it has 3 large connectors. See photo below.

I did remove the battery when I connect it back the car does start but not iddling

What year make and model of vehicle? In some cases, when the battery is disconnected/removed, the vehicle will need an idle relearn procedure. This can usually be accomplished by keeping the vehicle running with your foot on the gas pedal and gently revving the engine til idle will stay by itself. It is then a good idea to drive the vehicle for any other module relearn that may be necessary. In some cases, the relearn procedure must be accomplished using a scan tool.

    GMC Envoy relearn procedure

The modules need to relearn the conditions it operates under. Take both battery cables off and touch them together for several minutes. Reconnect and start the engine. Drive the vehicle 20 or more miles in city traffic. That will relearn the modules.

    HI Mik,

First off, a word of warning, remote starts should not be installed on vehicles with manual transmissions, automatic only.

Ign 1 is equivalent to the key switch being in the 'ON' position.
Ign 2 is the power for the starter solenoid. Same as turning your key to START.

    Best regards

How do you reprogram (reset) the remote starter after power has been disconnected? I dont know what model

Most remote starters do not lose their "memory" when power is lost. However, if an older version bypass module was used for your vehicle it may need to be reset but you must know the model. If you are not able to look under the dash panels yourself, you should take it to your nearest dealer/installer. Some also reset or relearn after the first key start. The FCC number off of one remote may help narrow down model of the remote start also. Vehicle info will also be helpful. DC
